Custom containers: common questions
How much does a custom shipping container cost?
It depends entirely on the build — an extra door costs far less than a fully finished office. Every project gets one itemized quote: the container, each modification priced line by line, and delivery. You see exactly where every dollar goes before any work starts.
How long does a custom container project take?
Simple modifications can be done in days; fully finished builds take longer. Timeline depends on the spec and our current build queue — your quote includes a committed schedule, and we keep you posted as the build progresses.
Can you really build anything?
If it bolts, welds or wires to a steel container, almost certainly. Offices, bars, grow rooms, pump houses, ticket booths, tack rooms — if we haven't built it yet, we'll tell you honestly whether it's feasible and what it would take.
Do I need a permit for a custom container?
It depends on your municipality and the use. Plain storage rarely needs a permit in rural BC; occupied spaces like offices often do. Tell us the intended use and we'll make sure the build supports whatever approval your local building department requires.
Can you customize a container I already own?
Often, yes — it depends on the work and your container's condition. If your unit is rough, starting from a fresh used container is sometimes cheaper than rehabilitating an old one. We'll give you straight advice either way.
Can I finance a custom container build?
Ask about lease-to-own — straightforward monthly payments that end in ownership. It's most common on standard storage units, but tell us what you're planning and we'll quote the options.
