Pick a base container, drag the personnel door and windows along the wall until they sit where you want them, then choose framing, insulation and power. The estimate builds from the same catalogue published further down this page — the container, plus each modification at its list price.
Custom containers price out that way end to end: site offices, workshops, cold storage, pop-up shops. Bunkies, garden suites and modular homes can be laid out in the studio too, but they stay quoted per design — occupied space needs engineering and permit-ready drawings, so the number comes from the drawing rather than the menu.

Custom containers: common questions
How much does a custom shipping container cost?
It depends entirely on the build — an extra door costs far less than a fully finished office. Start with the published prices on this page: every modification is priced on its own and each package shows a real starting total. Then every project gets one itemized quote: the container, each modification priced line by line, and delivery. You see exactly where every dollar goes before any steel gets cut.
How long does a custom container project take?
Simple modifications can be done in days; fully finished builds take longer. Timeline depends on the spec and our current build queue — your quote includes a committed schedule, and we keep you posted as the build progresses.
Can you really build anything?
If it bolts, welds or wires to a steel container, almost certainly. Offices, bars, grow rooms, pump houses, ticket booths, tack rooms — if we haven't built it yet, we'll tell you honestly whether it's feasible and what it would take.
Do I need a permit for a custom container?
It depends on your municipality and the use. Plain storage rarely needs a permit in rural BC; occupied spaces like offices often do, and container homes and garden suites always need engineered, stamped drawings and a building permit. Tell us the intended use and we'll make sure the build supports whatever approval your local building department requires — on turnkey homes and suites we handle the engineering and permit drawings with you.
Can you customize a container I already own?
Often, yes — it depends on the work and your container's condition. If your unit is rough, starting from a fresh used container is sometimes cheaper than rehabilitating an old one. We'll give you straight advice either way.
Can I finance a custom container build?
Ask about lease-to-own — straightforward monthly payments that end in ownership. It's most common on standard storage units, but tell us what you're planning and we'll quote the options.

Container homes and garden suites are now a full turnkey service. Container homes come with design and engineering coordination, permit-ready stamped drawings, insulation to the BC Energy Step Code requirement for the site, a finished interior and delivery to your foundation, quoted per design. A garden suite or ADU is one way to use BC's small-scale multi-unit housing rules, which require most urban municipalities to allow secondary suites and accessory dwelling units on residential lots — your municipality still has the final say on setbacks, size, servicing and design.
