Yes. Opening it, designing, saving a draft in your browser and copying a link to your design all cost nothing, and there is no account to create. The estimate it shows is the price of a build, not a fee for the tool. Nothing is ordered or paid for inside the studio; you only pay for a container if you approve a written quote for it.

Yes, from anywhere. The studio runs in your browser wherever you are. We build in our Kamloops, BC yard and deliver across BC. For a site in another province, send the design and we quote it line by line, with freight or delivery to your site quoted per project as its own line. Local rules for placing, occupying or connecting a container vary by province and municipality, so confirm what applies to your site with your local authority.

No. Open the studio and start designing, with no sign-up. Your name, email and phone are asked only when you send the design for a quote, download the build summary or save the tour video, and the “Where’s it going?” field for your town and province is optional. The browser you use remembers those details for next time, and we use them only to follow up on that design.

No. It's a starting estimate: the catalogue price of the container you picked, plus each priced modification at its list price — the same rates our yard quotes and invoices from. Items marked Quote required are excluded from that subtotal, and tax, delivery, paint, final finishes and site work are not included. Every build is quoted line by line before any steel gets cut.

Because they depend on a design we haven't done yet. Washrooms, plumbing, tanks, heating and cooling, and wall and ceiling finishes all turn on your site, your services and your spec. The studio lists them on your build and leaves them out of the subtotal rather than guessing at a number.

You can lay out the shell — size, colour, openings, framing and insulation, the washroom and mechanical enclosures. What the studio can't price is the design, engineering and permit-drawing work an occupied build needs, which is why container homes, garden suites and bunkies stay quoted per project. Settle the layout in the studio, send it over, and we quote the rest.

Yours. The 30-second tour animates the same model you configured — your size, colour, condition, opening positions, cargo end, framing and insulation — and adds no furniture and nothing you didn't select. Watching it needs no details. You can save it as a 1920×1080 video file once you've added your name, email and phone, if your browser supports recording; if it doesn't, the tour still plays on screen.

It reaches our team in Kamloops with every detail attached: container, condition, colour, each modification, the position of every door and window, and where it's going if you told us. We reply within one business day. Your itemized quote covers the priced lines, anything that needed a quote, and delivery to your site as its own line. Nothing is ordered until you say so.

A current web browser with JavaScript turned on, and no sign-up. The 3D view also needs WebGL; if it can’t load on your device, you can retry it or continue without 3D and still configure your build and see its estimate. On a phone you can hide the preview while you work through the steps. Your draft saves only in the browser you’re using, so to switch devices, press Copy link to this design and open that link on the other device.

Not in the studio itself. It models three containers: a 10ft standard, a 20ft standard and a 40ft high cube, new or used, with the 10ft new only. Other catalogue units, such as the used standard-height 40ft, the 20ft double-door, the side-door models and the 20ft refrigerated container, aren’t studio options. Design the closest studio size and tell Valleyview which container you actually want, or ask for a quote on that unit directly.

Lay out what the studio allows, one steel personnel door and up to two sliding windows (one on a 10ft), then tell Valleyview what else you need when the team follows up on your design. Extra steel personnel doors and sliding windows are priced from the modification menu, subject to fitment. Roll-up doors, vents, serving windows, side-opening walls and other door or glazing types are quoted per design. Each addition is its own line in your itemized quote, which confirms fitment before any steel is cut.

Because each door and window needs its own frame with solid steel around it. The studio stops every opening short of the corner posts and of the neighbouring opening’s frame, so every opening in the layout you send keeps steel between it and the next. Cutting any opening removes structural steel, and reframing it properly is part of the modification work. Final fitment is confirmed in your written quote, and if you need an unusual position, ask Valleyview about it.

Yes. The cargo doors can sit at End A or End B, and you switch them on the floor plan. The personnel door and windows go on Side A or Side B, and your build summary records the cargo-door end, each opening’s side and the distance in metres from End A to the centre of each opening. Valleyview quotes from those positions and confirms fitment in your written quote. Which way the container faces on your site is settled with the driver at delivery.

No. The studio is a visual configurator, not a construction drawing or a measured digital twin. Its geometry follows published ISO container specifications and reviewed photographs of Valleyview’s own units, but hardware and panel details vary between manufacturers, and modification layouts are illustrative and subject to fitment. Use it to settle the size, positions and options. If your project needs engineered drawings for a permit, those are a separate step, and final scope is confirmed in a written quote.

No. Used containers in the studio carry representative wear, such as handling dents, varied floor panels and surface marks. That is a condition treatment, not a portrait of a specific unit in the yard, and every used container shows its own signs of a working life. To see actual units, check the live inventory of containers in the Kamloops yard, which shows photos and condition notes where they’re recorded, or ask Valleyview to describe the unit it would use for your build.

Because the base container line uses the starting catalogue price for the size and condition you chose, and the unit actually supplied can be priced differently depending on its colour, condition and where it is sourced. Priced modifications are added at the published menu rates on top of that starting figure. Your written quote names the container Valleyview will use for your build and sets the final number.

Yes, when the selections match. A used 20ft with a 36-inch steel personnel door, two sliding windows, steel stud framing, rigid foam and the basic electrical package adds up to the published 20ft insulated site office package, before tax and delivery, because the studio and the packages price from the same catalogue and modification menu. Change any line, such as spray foam instead of rigid foam, and the studio prices the difference.

A 100A panel, four LED interior lights, four 15A receptacles and an exterior weatherproof outlet, roughed in for your electrician’s final hookup. A licensed electrician connects the panel to whatever your site has, such as a temporary construction service, a generator or a permanent utility drop, and pulls the electrical permit. The HVAC pre-wire is a separate option that adds a dedicated circuit and wall penetration for a mini-split or rooftop unit; the unit itself is quote required.

Match them to how the space will be used. Steel stud framing is Valleyview’s standard for insulated builds because it doesn’t rot or feed mould; wood costs less but isn’t recommended where moisture is a concern. Rigid foam is the default for offices and workshops, closed-cell spray foam suits space occupied year-round in the North, rock wool resists fire and dampens sound, and fibreglass batts are not Valleyview’s preference in a steel box. Spray foam also costs some interior width.

A washroom and a mechanical room together need a 20ft or 40ft container in the studio, so switching to a 10ft with both selected removes the mechanical room and shows a notice; the washroom stays on your build. Both are enclosures only. The toilet, vanity and shower, and the tanks, pump and water heater, are chosen separately and quoted per design. If you need both rooms, choose a 20ft or a 40ft high cube and add the mechanical room again.

Yes. Press Copy link to this design, in the studio header or on the review step, and send the link to anyone. It reopens that exact build, with the container, options and every opening’s position, and it holds no personal details, so nobody has to give contact details to make it or open it. Once you’ve added your name, email and phone you can also download the build summary as a text file or save the 30-second tour video and pass those along.

Yes. Sending a design doesn’t place an order, and neither does the one automatic send the studio makes per visit once your build has a Quote required option and your contact details are entered. Nothing is fixed until you approve a written quote. Keep refining the build, which saves as a draft on that device, and tell the team what changed when they follow up, or call (778) 694-4050. For an unmodified storage container, pick a size and condition from the catalogue and request a quote with your delivery location, or call (778) 694-4050, and the quote covers the container and delivery to your site. If you might add modifications later, the studio is still a free way to see where a door or window would sit before you decide.

Some are renders and one is a photograph. The large hero image and the interior image are renders made from the studio’s own model geometry, and the studio itself draws a 3D model in your browser. In used 40ft containers, a high cube is listed at $3,500–$4,000 against $3,300–$3,600 for standard height, a difference of $200 at the low end of each range, before tax and delivery. For that you get a foot of extra height and about 300 more cubic feet on the same footprint, with the same site preparation. The extra headroom suits tall equipment, palletized goods and workshops that need room to stand and work.

The driver calls when they are on the way. When the truck arrives, you confirm the exact spot and which way the doors face, then the deck tilts and the container slides off the back onto your prepared site. Give the operator room and stay beside or behind the moving container, never in front of it. Once it’s down, inspect it and sign the delivery receipt.

Openings are cut there and framing, insulation and any paint or decals are added, while a licensed electrician Valleyview contracts does the electrical rough-in, all before the finished container leaves the yard. For a home, garden suite or bunkie, you can walk through the build in the yard before it ships. Builds are delivered across BC, with delivery quoted for your site by distance and access.

Yes. Valleyview works with band offices, council-led projects, housing authorities, municipalities and institutions, for uses such as parks and recreation storage, emergency caches and works-yard units. The quote is itemized and can be formatted for a procurement review or a council meeting, followed by formal invoices, container serial numbers and delivery confirmation for each site. Project documentation is available on request, so say what your funder or council needs when you ask for the quote.

No. A standard container works for storage as delivered, with lockable cargo doors and seals that keep wind and water out. Common additions are a lock box for security, shelving, and vents where temperatures swing. A steel personnel door helps if you’re in and out every day, so you aren’t opening the cargo doors for each trip. Framing, insulation and power are worth adding when people will work inside or the contents need protecting from the cold.
