Shipping Containers in Lone Butte, BC

Sea Cans Beside the Lone Butte

(778) 694-4050

Serving Lone Butte and the Highway 24 Corridor

Valleyview Containers supplies new and used shipping containers to Lone Butte, southeast of 100 Mile House beside the butte of columnar basalt, the core of an ancient volcano, that shares its name. It sits near the western end of Highway 24, the Interlakes Highway, and ranching and recreation shape the local economy. Ranchers store feed, tack and fencing supplies in containers, and lake-country owners use them for quads, sleds and cabin gear.

We deliver 20ft and 40ft containers in standard and high-cube heights, with double-door and side-door options, and custom farm and ranch builds with a personnel door and frost-ready underfloor insulation. Every unit is inspected, wind and watertight, and priced all-in with delivery from our Kamloops yard by way of Highway 24. In winter, tell us how your access road is ploughed when you plan the drop.

FAQ

Lone Butte shipping container FAQ

Straight answers on buying, delivering and setting up a container in Lone Butte and across the Cariboo.

Buying in Lone Butte

Do you deliver shipping containers to Lone Butte, BC?

Yes. Valleyview’s delivery area covers all of British Columbia, including Lone Butte, and takes in homes, acreages, businesses, job sites and remote properties. Distance is priced into the delivery quote rather than limiting where containers go, so the questions that matter are whether the truck has a clear way in and room to set the container down.

What does it cost to have a container delivered to Lone Butte?

Delivery to Lone Butte isn’t part of the listed container price; it’s quoted for the actual site, and Valleyview doesn’t publish a flat rate. The quote reflects the distance from where the container ships (the Kamloops yard or a partner depot) to your address in Lone Butte, the roads on the way in, and how easily the truck can line up and back in. A level pad and room for the tilt-deck help keep it down, and the delivery quote is free.

How long does it take to get a container delivered to Lone Butte?

It’s set when you order, not promised ahead. Timing depends on whether the unit you choose is already in Valleyview’s yard or has to be sourced, plus the distance to Lone Butte, access at your site, and the roads and weather. Tell Valleyview about any deadline when you ask for a quote, and the delivery window is confirmed with your order.

Do I have to come to Kamloops to buy a container for delivery to Lone Butte?

No. You can request a quote by phone, email or the website’s quote form and confirm the order when you accept it, all without visiting. Valleyview’s only yard is in Kamloops, at D3-1764 Kelly Douglas Rd, and Valleyview doesn’t operate a depot in Lone Butte; your container comes from that yard or from a partner depot. When it arrives, you or someone you designate inspects it and signs the delivery receipt, noting any damage at that time.

What container sizes can I buy in Lone Butte?

All three sizes, 10ft, 20ft and 40ft, can be delivered to Lone Butte. The catalogue has the new 10ft; new and used 20ft units, new 20ft double-door and side-door units and a 20ft refrigerated container; new 40ft high cubes; and used 40ft containers in standard or high cube height. What’s in Valleyview’s yard now is on the live inventory page, other units can be sourced through partner depots, and availability is confirmed with your quote.

Compare all containers
Can I see a container before it’s delivered to Lone Butte?

Yes, in a few ways. Each listing on the live inventory page is a unit physically in the Kamloops yard, with a photo when available, its recorded condition and its unit number when legible. For a unit sourced from a partner depot, ask what photos and condition details come with your quote. If you’re passing through Kamloops, call ahead to arrange a look in person, and inspect the container again when it arrives.

See the yard inventory
Is the listed price what I’ll pay for a container in Lone Butte?

The listed range is a guide to the container itself, and your quote confirms the exact figure. Where a container lands in its range depends on its condition, its colour if it’s new and where it’s sourced, which is why buyers in different towns can see different figures for the same container. Prices are in Canadian dollars plus tax, with delivery quoted separately.

What does my site need for container delivery in Lone Butte?

Firm, level ground and room for the tilt-deck truck. The spot should be dry and load-bearing, such as compacted gravel, asphalt or concrete, with blocks or railway ties under the corners recommended. For a 20ft, the truck needs 72 feet of straight, clear length including the container’s final spot, 10 to 12 feet of width and 16 feet overhead; a 40ft needs more. Look up along the route in, too: hydro lines, branches and carport roofs all count against that overhead space.

Do you deliver to acreages and off-grid properties near Lone Butte?

Yes. The service area takes in rural, remote and off-grid sites around Lone Butte. Valleyview’s trucks run gravel roads, forest service roads and seasonal access, and each route is planned before the truck leaves: approach, turnaround and set-down, with a backup plan where a bridge weight rating is in question. Describe gates, creek crossings and the last stretch in, and send GPS coordinates or a map pin if the site has no street address.

Should I get a 20ft or 40ft container for a property in Lone Butte?

Choose a 20ft if space or delivery access is tight, and a 40ft if you need volume. A 20ft gives about 1,170 cubic feet on a footprint roughly the size of a single-car garage; a 40ft gives about 2,390, or about 2,690 as a high cube, but needs more room for the truck. Check the setbacks that apply to your lot before you choose, and mark the footprint with room for the doors to swing.

Do snow and frozen ground affect container delivery in Lone Butte?

They can, in both directions. In the Cariboo, snow, ice and road conditions can move a date, and Valleyview’s terms exclude liability for weather delays. Frozen ground can make some sites easier to reach, and remote sites are planned around seasonal access windows. Clear snow from the route and drop spot, and choose a spot that stays firm after the thaw.

What should I do to keep a container in good shape in Lone Butte?

Plan for temperature swings and winter cold. Keep snow and wet leaves off the roof, keep the vents clear and use desiccants so condensation doesn’t drip on your things. Avoid heating it on and off, which is harder on a container than no heat at all. Before winter, put graphite or a dry silicone lubricant in the lock, and after the spring thaw check that the container is still level.

Do I need a permit for a shipping container in Lone Butte?

It depends on the property and how you’ll use the container, so check before delivery with the local government or other authority responsible for land use at your address; on First Nation reserve land, that’s the Nation’s own lands, housing or public works process. Valleyview isn’t the permit office and can’t confirm what applies to your lot. Ask about zoning, setbacks, lot coverage and whether a permit or siting plan is needed, and get the answer in writing, noting who you spoke to and when.

Read the permits guide
Can I get a custom container build delivered to Lone Butte?

Yes. Custom builds are done in Valleyview’s own yard in Kamloops, where openings are cut and framing, insulation, electrical rough-in and any paint are added, then the finished container is delivered to Lone Butte, usually by tilt-deck. You approve one itemized quote covering the container, every modification and delivery before any steel gets cut. You can start from a sketch, photos or a design made in the Container Studio.

Custom container builds
Is lease-to-own available for containers delivered to Lone Butte?

Yes. Lease-to-own is offered on 20ft and 40ft containers delivered to Lone Butte, with the monthly payment, the term and delivery itemized in one up-front quote. The monthly cost depends on the container’s size, condition and your delivery location. Every payment builds toward ownership, and you can ask for a payout figure at any time. Valleyview doesn’t rent containers; lease-to-own is the monthly option.

How lease-to-own works
Where else in the Cariboo do you deliver besides Lone Butte?

All of the Cariboo, including Williams Lake, 100 Mile House, Forest Grove, Bridge Lake and Horsefly. Each delivery is quoted for its own address by distance and site access. If your community isn’t listed on the site, call (778) 694-4050: deliveries also go to off-grid sites, ranches, First Nations communities and end-of-road locations across BC.

How do I order a shipping container for delivery to Lone Butte?

Start with a quote by phone at (778) 694-4050, by email, or through the website’s quote form. Include the container type, your address or postal code, your timeline and any access concerns, plus photos if the route in is tight. Quotes are free and don’t commit you to buy. When you accept, Valleyview confirms the order with an invoice or confirmation, and the delivery date is agreed at that point.

Sizes & specs

How do I know if my items will fit through a container’s doors?

Compare your tallest item with the door opening, not the ceiling. The opening is about five inches lower than the interior height: roughly 7ft 5in on a standard container and 8ft 5in on a high cube. Measure the tallest item, add six inches for forklift tines or a ramp angle, and pick the container that clears that number. Interior width is about 7ft 8in; ask Valleyview to confirm the door opening width on the unit you are buying.

New & used containers

What is a shipping container floor made of?

A standard container floor is a deck of marine-grade plywood about 28 mm (1 1/8 inches) thick, screwed to steel cross-members that run side to side about a foot apart. It is traditionally dense tropical hardwood plywood, and newer units increasingly use bamboo or a bamboo-hardwood composite. The deck is treated with insecticide and fungicide at the factory, so for food storage or living space, cover it properly or replace it.

Prices

How much is a used 20ft shipping container?

A used 20ft container is listed at $2,500–$3,000 plus tax and delivery. It’s a cargo-worthy unit: it has been in shipping service, so expect surface rust and dents, but it’s inspected and wind and watertight before it leaves the yard. It gives about 1,170 cubic feet of lockable space for storage where looks don’t matter. Where a unit falls in the range depends on its condition and where it’s sourced.

Buying & paying

I’m not sure which container I need. Can you help me choose before I order?

Yes. Tell Valleyview what you plan to store or build, how much space you have on site and your budget, and you’ll get a recommended size and condition. Choosing “Not Sure” as the container type on the quote form is fine. Before you call, measure the spot and your largest items, and walk the route the delivery truck would take, so the advice fits your site.

Delivery

Can you deliver a container to a construction or job site?

Yes. A job site needs the same things as any delivery: firm, level ground where the container will sit and a straight, clear approach for the tilt-deck truck, with room overhead. Keep that path free of parked machines, material piles and people on the day, and name a site contact who can meet the driver, confirm placement and sign the delivery receipt. Site requirements are confirmed when you get your quote.

Can I pick up a container from the yard myself?

Ask first, because customer pickup isn’t a published option. Valleyview delivers by tilt-deck truck, so call (778) 694-4050 to ask whether collecting the unit you want is possible and what loading it would involve. If delivery suits you better, the delivery quote is free and is priced to the site the container is actually going to.

Preparing your site

Does a 40ft container need more site preparation than a 20ft?

It needs the same kind of preparation over a longer spot. The ground still has to be firm, level and well-drained, with support under the four corner castings, but on a 40ft those corners sit about 40 feet apart end to end, so check the whole length for soft or low spots and take more care getting all four level with each other. The truck also needs more room than for a 20ft, so ask for your site’s requirements when you book.

Owning a container

What shouldn’t I store in a shipping container?

Don’t put anything away wet, since damp gear adds to condensation, and keep moisture-sensitive items off the floor with the vents clear. For fuel, propane and chemicals, follow the product label and check your local fire and storage rules before keeping them in any closed building. If the container will hold food or feed, or house animals, cover or replace the factory-treated plywood floor first. Perishable food needs a refrigerated container rather than a plain storage unit.

Permits & bylaws

Who gets the electrical and plumbing permits for a container build?

The licensed trades do. Your electrician pulls the electrical permit when they make the final connection, and a licensed plumber handles the plumbing permit for any water or sewer tie-in, each separate from a building permit. Neither trade permit answers whether the container itself needs a building permit once it is wired, heated or used by people, so ask your local government that question on its own.

Custom builds

What modifications can you make to a shipping container?

Valleyview’s published modification menu covers a 36-inch steel personnel door with a commercial lockset, sliding windows with screens and security bars, steel or wood stud framing, four insulation types plus undercarriage foam, a basic electrical package and an HVAC pre-wire. Roll-up doors, vents, shelving, partitions, interior finishes, plumbing rough-in and paint are quoted per design. Every build is quoted line by line before any steel gets cut.

Business & lease-to-own

Can a farm or ranch buy containers on lease-to-own or in bulk?

Yes. A farm or ranch can buy outright, spread the cost across the seasons with lease-to-own on a 20ft or 40ft container, or order several units at once with volume pricing, for example one for each yard or property. A plain container suits feed, seed and tools, and the farm and ranch storage build adds a personnel door and undercarriage insulation. Tell Valleyview about gates, creek crossings and bridge ratings on the way in so delivery can be planned.

Farm and ranch containers

Refrigerated containers

Can you add shelving, a man door or temperature monitoring to a reefer?

Yes, as quoted extras. The 20ft refrigerated cold storage package lists shelving and racking, a secondary man door and temperature monitoring, each quoted per design. A man door on a reefer is priced individually because it is cut through an insulated, stainless-lined wall. Shelving, racking and monitoring are fitted before delivery and laid out around what you store, such as kegs, totes, cases or flats.

Uses

Can a shipping container secure tools and materials on a construction site?

Yes. A container gives a crew a lockable steel room on site, so tools and materials stay overnight instead of riding home in the trucks. A welded lock box over a puck lock is the usual job-site setup, with the doors facing where people can see them. If the crew needs heat and power, it can be fitted out as a tool crib or workshop. When the job ends, it lifts back onto a tilt-deck for the next site; call Valleyview to ask about the move.
