Shipping Containers in Warfield, BC

Steel Storage for Warfield, Just West of Trail

(778) 694-4050

Serving Warfield Between Trail and Rossland

Valleyview Containers delivers new and used shipping containers to Warfield, the village at the bottom of the Rossland hill immediately west of Trail, where Highways 3B and 22 run through. In the 1930s the smelter company built a residential area here to house its employees. With Rossland's ski hill and bike trails up the road, a container gives Warfield households room for skis, bikes, and sleds, plus tools and renovation materials.

Our range covers 20ft and 40ft containers, standard or high-cube, along with double-door, side-door, and refrigerated units, and we can quote a custom build with a steel personnel door and sliding window. Every unit leaves Kamloops inspected wind and watertight, with one all-in price for the container and its delivery. Since Warfield sits where the road starts its climb to Rossland, tell us about the grade of your driveway.

FAQ

Warfield shipping container FAQ

Straight answers on buying, delivering and setting up a container in Warfield and across the West Kootenay & Boundary.

Buying in Warfield

Does Valleyview Containers deliver to Warfield?

Yes. Valleyview’s delivery area covers all of British Columbia, including Warfield, and takes in homes, acreages, businesses, job sites and remote properties. Distance is priced into the delivery quote rather than limiting where containers go, so the questions that matter are whether the truck has a clear way in and room to set the container down.

Do listed container prices include delivery to Warfield?

No. Listed container prices are in Canadian dollars plus tax and delivery, and delivery to Warfield is quoted separately. Each site is quoted on its own: the distance from where the container ships (the Kamloops yard or a partner depot) to your address in Warfield, the roads on the way in, and how easily the truck can line up and back in all count. Valleyview doesn’t publish a flat delivery rate or a free-delivery zone; what’s free is the delivery quote itself.

How long does it take to get a container delivered to Warfield?

It’s set when you order, not promised ahead. Timing depends on whether the unit you choose is already in Valleyview’s yard or has to be sourced, plus the distance to Warfield, access at your site, and the roads and weather. Tell Valleyview about any deadline when you ask for a quote, and the delivery window is confirmed with your order.

Is there a Valleyview container yard in Warfield?

No. Valleyview’s only yard is in Kamloops, at D3-1764 Kelly Douglas Rd, and Valleyview doesn’t operate a depot in Warfield; your container comes from that yard or from a partner depot and is quoted delivered to your address. You don’t need to visit to buy: request a quote by phone, email or the website’s quote form, confirm the order when you accept the quote, and inspect the container when it arrives.

What container sizes can I buy in Warfield?

Any unit in Valleyview’s catalogue: the new 10ft; new and used 20ft containers, plus new 20ft double-door and side-door units and a 20ft refrigerated container; and 40ft containers, new as high cubes (one with side doors) or used in standard or high cube height. The live inventory page shows units already in Valleyview’s yard, and other units can be sourced through partner depots on request and quoted delivered to Warfield. Availability, especially for the 10ft, is confirmed with your quote.

Can I see a container before it’s delivered to Warfield?

Yes, in a few ways. Each listing on the live inventory page is a unit physically in the Kamloops yard, with a photo when available, its recorded condition and its unit number when legible. For a unit sourced from a partner depot, ask what photos and condition details come with your quote. If you’re passing through Kamloops, call ahead to arrange a look in person, and inspect the container again when it arrives.

See the yard inventory
Is the listed price what I’ll pay for a container in Warfield?

The listed range is a guide to the container itself, and your quote confirms the exact figure. Where a container lands in its range depends on its condition, its colour if it’s new and where it’s sourced, which is why buyers in different towns can see different figures for the same container. Prices are in Canadian dollars plus tax, with delivery quoted separately.

What does my site need for container delivery in Warfield?

Firm, level ground and room for the tilt-deck truck. The spot should be dry and load-bearing, such as compacted gravel, asphalt or concrete, with blocks or railway ties under the corners recommended. For a 20ft, the truck needs 72 feet of straight, clear length including the container’s final spot, 10 to 12 feet of width and 16 feet overhead; a 40ft needs more. Look up along the route in, too: hydro lines, branches and carport roofs all count against that overhead space.

Can you deliver to rural or hard-to-reach sites around Warfield?

Yes, and they’re quoted like any other delivery, by distance and by what the route and site need. Before booking, the route is planned the way it actually drives, including the approach, the turnaround and the set-down. Send GPS coordinates or a map pin for a site without a street address, describe gates, forks and creek crossings, and add photos of the access road and drop spot.

What size container is right for a property in Warfield?

Choose a 20ft if space or delivery access is tight, and a 40ft if you need volume. A 20ft gives about 1,170 cubic feet on a footprint roughly the size of a single-car garage; a 40ft gives about 2,390, or about 2,690 as a high cube, but needs more room for the truck. Check the setbacks that apply to your lot before you choose, and mark the footprint with room for the doors to swing.

Is winter container delivery possible in Warfield?

It depends on the roads in and the state of your site on the day. In the West Kootenay and Boundary, snow, ice and road conditions can move a date, and Valleyview’s terms exclude liability for weather delays. Frozen ground can make some sites easier to reach, and remote sites are planned around seasonal access windows. Clear snow from the route and drop spot, and choose a spot that stays firm after the thaw.

What should I do to keep a container in good shape in Warfield?

Plan for temperature swings and winter cold. Keep snow and wet leaves off the roof, keep the vents clear and use desiccants so condensation doesn’t drip on your things. Avoid heating it on and off, which is harder on a container than no heat at all. Before winter, put graphite or a dry silicone lubricant in the lock, and after the spring thaw check that the container is still level.

Who do I ask about shipping container rules in Warfield?

The local government or other authority responsible for land use at your address, usually through its planning or building department; on First Nation reserve land, that’s the Nation’s own lands, housing or public works process. If the parcel is in the ALR, say so on the first call, since that changes which office you deal with. Valleyview isn’t the permit office and can’t confirm what applies to your lot, so give them your address and what the container is for, and ask before it’s delivered.

Read the permits guide
Can I get a custom container build delivered to Warfield?

Yes. Custom builds are done in Valleyview’s own yard in Kamloops, where openings are cut and framing, insulation, electrical rough-in and any paint are added, then the finished container is delivered to Warfield, usually by tilt-deck. You approve one itemized quote covering the container, every modification and delivery before any steel gets cut. You can start from a sketch, photos or a design made in the Container Studio.

Custom container builds
Can I rent a shipping container in Warfield?

No. Valleyview doesn’t rent containers anywhere in BC. If you’d rather not pay the full price up front, lease-to-own spreads it into monthly payments on a 20ft or 40ft container, with the payment, term and delivery to Warfield quoted together. Every payment builds toward ownership, you can pay out the balance early, and at the end of the term the container is yours rather than going back.

How lease-to-own works
Where else in the West Kootenay and Boundary do you deliver besides Warfield?

All of the West Kootenay and Boundary, including Trail, Castlegar, Nelson, Rossland and Salmo. Each delivery is quoted for its own address by distance and site access. If your community isn’t listed on the site, call (778) 694-4050: deliveries also go to off-grid sites, ranches, First Nations communities and end-of-road locations across BC.

How do I get a quote for container delivery to Warfield?

Call (778) 694-4050, email valleyviewcontainers@gmail.com, or use the quote form on the website. Say which size and condition you want, how many, and where it’s going; a postal code is enough to start, and the full address or directions are needed before you order. Photos of the access help. The quote is free, doesn’t commit you to buy, and gives one all-in price for the container and delivery.

Sizes & specs

Can I stack pallets two high in a shipping container?

In a high cube, usually yes; in a standard-height container, usually not. A loaded pallet at a typical four-foot build height stacks two high at roughly 8 feet, which clears a high cube’s interior height of about 8ft 10in but not a standard container’s 7ft 10in. Check the door opening for your forklift too, about 8ft 5in on a high cube, and plan rows around the interior width of about 7ft 8in.

New & used containers

Which grade should I buy if I might sell the container or ship it overseas later?

If you might ship it overseas one day, stick to one-trip or cargo-worthy, the two grades that still carry cargo, and ask whether the specific unit has a CSC plate, which international shipping requires. No one can promise what a container will be worth later, so buy for the job in front of you. Whatever the grade, a container kept on a level, well-drained pad, with its rust treated and its door seals cared for, stays in better shape.

Prices

How much does a used 40ft shipping container cost?

A used 40ft standard-height container is listed at $3,300–$3,600 plus tax and delivery, and a used 40ft high cube is listed at $3,500–$4,000. Both are cargo-worthy units, inspected and wind and watertight before they’re sold. The standard 40ft holds about 2,390 cubic feet, and the high cube, a foot taller, about 2,690. Delivery is quoted separately, and a 40ft needs more room on the route and at the drop spot than a 20ft.

Buying & paying

Can I get one quote for several containers?

Yes. On the homepage price list you can select more than one container and send them as a single quote request, or list each size, condition and quantity in your message or on the phone. If the units are going to different addresses, give each one, since delivery is quoted by distance and site access. Larger multi-unit orders are handled as fleet orders, with volume pricing and no fixed minimum.

Fleet and bulk orders

Delivery

What if the delivery truck can’t reach the spot I want?

Then a tilt-deck can’t set the container there, which is why access is checked before delivery day. The truck must back in on a straight line with the clear length, width and overhead space the container needs. If your spot fails that test, call before delivery so the drop can be planned, whether that means clearing the route or choosing another spot. For custom homes, garden suites and bunkies, a crane lift may be quoted instead. Access problems found on the day can delay delivery.

What should I check when my container arrives?

Check the doors, the floor and the overall condition before you sign. Make sure both doors swing and lock cleanly, look for soft spots in the floor, and stand inside with the doors shut to look for pinholes of daylight along the roof and door seals. Under Valleyview’s terms, any damage or discrepancy has to be noted on the delivery receipt at the time of delivery.

Preparing your site

Do I need a concrete slab or footings for a storage container?

Not necessarily. A storage container can sit on level, firm ground, and a compacted gravel pad or blocks under the corners is the standard approach. Concrete piers lift the container for airflow, and a concrete slab suits permanent installations and heavy use. Your municipality or regional district may have its own requirements for your use and location, so ask before you pour anything or book delivery.

Owning a container

How should I clean a shipping container?

Wash the outside once a year with a simple soap and water solution to remove dirt, salt near the coast and other corrosive grime, and clear leaves and debris off the roof. Inside, sweep the floor and let it dry before you load it. Never dry-sand the floor: the plywood is treated against insects and fungus at the factory, and sanding turns that treatment into airborne dust.

Permits & bylaws

Can a bylaw require screening or a certain colour on a shipping container?

Some can, so ask. A local bylaw or development permit area may ask for fencing or landscape screening, restrict placement in a front yard, or call for a particular or neutral finish instead of faded or weathered paint. If a colour is required, tell Valleyview when you ask for a quote. New 20ft containers can be ordered in a range of factory RAL colours, and Valleyview can repaint a container in a RAL colour at its yard before delivery.

Custom builds

Can you add heating or air conditioning to a container?

Yes, starting with an HVAC pre-wire from the modification menu: a dedicated circuit and wall penetration for a mini-split or rooftop unit. The mini-split or HVAC unit itself, baseboard heaters and extractor fans are quoted per design, because the right choice turns on your site, your power and your spec. Plan insulation at the same time, since bare steel sweats and gets cold fast.

Business & lease-to-own

Do you work with municipalities, First Nations and funded projects?

Yes. Valleyview works with band offices, council-led projects, housing authorities, municipalities and institutions, for uses such as parks and recreation storage, emergency caches and works-yard units. The quote is itemized and can be formatted for a procurement review or a council meeting, followed by formal invoices, container serial numbers and delivery confirmation for each site. Project documentation is available on request, so say what your funder or council needs when you ask for the quote.

Business services

Refrigerated containers

What does my site need before a refrigerated container is delivered?

A reefer arrives by tilt-deck like any 20ft container, so the site needs firm, level ground, about 72 feet of straight clear length including the container’s final spot, at least 10 to 12 feet of width and 16 feet of overhead clearance. It also needs 3-phase power within reach, or a generator on an off-grid site. Decide which end should face the power supply, and send photos of the access if you’re unsure.

Uses

Can a shipping container be used as a bunkie or guest cabin?

Yes. A bunkie is a room to sleep in, usually built in a 20ft, or in a 40ft high cube when it needs two beds or a washroom. Insulation and framing are chosen for the site and the season you’ll use it, and a washroom with fresh-water and waste tanks, a water heater and a pump can be added. Valleyview quotes every bunkie per design rather than from a price list. People sleep in it, so ask your local government how it will be classified before you order.
