Shipping Containers in Bouchie Lake, BC

Containers West of the Fraser at Quesnel

(778) 694-4050

Serving Bouchie Lake and Quesnel West

Valleyview Containers delivers new and used shipping containers to Bouchie Lake, the rural community a short drive northwest of Quesnel on the west side of the Fraser River. Together with Quesnel West, it gives its name to a Cariboo Regional District electoral area, and its homes and acreages sit around the lake. Containers here hold firewood, yard and garden equipment, household overflow and summer lake gear through the long Cariboo winter.

Choose 20ft or 40ft containers in standard or high-cube heights, plus double-door units that open at both ends and side-door units for wide access. Every container is inspected, wind and watertight, and priced all-in with delivery from Kamloops, through Quesnel and across the river. Tell us how your lane and yard are laid out, and in winter whether the access is ploughed, so we can plan the drop.

FAQ

Bouchie Lake shipping container FAQ

Straight answers on buying, delivering and setting up a container in Bouchie Lake and across the Cariboo.

Buying in Bouchie Lake

Does Valleyview Containers deliver to Bouchie Lake?

Yes. Valleyview’s delivery area covers all of British Columbia, including Bouchie Lake, and takes in homes, acreages, businesses, job sites and remote properties. Distance is priced into the delivery quote rather than limiting where containers go, so the questions that matter are whether the truck has a clear way in and room to set the container down.

What does it cost to have a container delivered to Bouchie Lake?

Delivery to Bouchie Lake isn’t part of the listed container price; it’s quoted for the actual site, and Valleyview doesn’t publish a flat rate. The quote reflects the distance from where the container ships (the Kamloops yard or a partner depot) to your address in Bouchie Lake, the roads on the way in, and how easily the truck can line up and back in. A level pad and room for the tilt-deck help keep it down, and the delivery quote is free.

How long does it take to get a container delivered to Bouchie Lake?

It’s set when you order, not promised ahead. Timing depends on whether the unit you choose is already in Valleyview’s yard or has to be sourced, plus the distance to Bouchie Lake, access at your site, and the roads and weather. Tell Valleyview about any deadline when you ask for a quote, and the delivery window is confirmed with your order.

Is there a Valleyview container yard in Bouchie Lake?

No. Valleyview’s only yard is in Kamloops, at D3-1764 Kelly Douglas Rd, and Valleyview doesn’t operate a depot in Bouchie Lake; your container comes from that yard or from a partner depot and is quoted delivered to your address. You don’t need to visit to buy: request a quote by phone, email or the website’s quote form, confirm the order when you accept the quote, and inspect the container when it arrives.

What container sizes can I buy in Bouchie Lake?

All three sizes, 10ft, 20ft and 40ft, can be delivered to Bouchie Lake. The catalogue has the new 10ft; new and used 20ft units, new 20ft double-door and side-door units and a 20ft refrigerated container; new 40ft high cubes; and used 40ft containers in standard or high cube height. What’s in Valleyview’s yard now is on the live inventory page, other units can be sourced through partner depots, and availability is confirmed with your quote.

Compare all containers
Can I see a container before it’s delivered to Bouchie Lake?

Yes, in a few ways. Each listing on the live inventory page is a unit physically in the Kamloops yard, with a photo when available, its recorded condition and its unit number when legible. For a unit sourced from a partner depot, ask what photos and condition details come with your quote. If you’re passing through Kamloops, call ahead to arrange a look in person, and inspect the container again when it arrives.

See the yard inventory
Do shipping containers cost more in Bouchie Lake?

They can, for two reasons. Part of a container’s own price depends on where the unit is sourced, which is one reason listed prices are ranges, and delivery to Bouchie Lake is quoted separately for your site. Condition and, for new units, colour move the figure too. Your quote confirms the exact numbers, in Canadian dollars plus tax.

What does my site need for container delivery in Bouchie Lake?

Firm, level ground and room for the tilt-deck truck. The spot should be dry and load-bearing, such as compacted gravel, asphalt or concrete, with blocks or railway ties under the corners recommended. For a 20ft, the truck needs 72 feet of straight, clear length including the container’s final spot, 10 to 12 feet of width and 16 feet overhead; a 40ft needs more. Look up along the route in, too: hydro lines, branches and carport roofs all count against that overhead space.

Can you deliver to rural or hard-to-reach sites around Bouchie Lake?

Yes, and they’re quoted like any other delivery, by distance and by what the route and site need. Before booking, the route is planned the way it actually drives, including the approach, the turnaround and the set-down. Send GPS coordinates or a map pin for a site without a street address, describe gates, forks and creek crossings, and add photos of the access road and drop spot.

What size container is right for a property in Bouchie Lake?

A 20ft suits household, tool and job-site storage, and a 40ft suits larger loads if the site has room for the truck. A 20ft holds about 1,170 cubic feet on a footprint roughly the size of a single-car garage, while a 40ft holds about 2,390 cubic feet, or about 2,690 as a high cube. A 10ft has half a 20ft’s footprint for tight lots, though supply is limited.

Is winter container delivery possible in Bouchie Lake?

It depends on the roads in and the state of your site on the day. In the Cariboo, snow, ice and road conditions can move a date, and Valleyview’s terms exclude liability for weather delays. Frozen ground can make some sites easier to reach, and remote sites are planned around seasonal access windows. Clear snow from the route and drop spot, and choose a spot that stays firm after the thaw.

What should I do to keep a container in good shape in Bouchie Lake?

Plan for temperature swings and winter cold. Keep snow and wet leaves off the roof, keep the vents clear and use desiccants so condensation doesn’t drip on your things. Avoid heating it on and off, which is harder on a container than no heat at all. Before winter, put graphite or a dry silicone lubricant in the lock, and after the spring thaw check that the container is still level.

Who do I ask about shipping container rules in Bouchie Lake?

The local government or other authority responsible for land use at your address, usually through its planning or building department; on First Nation reserve land, that’s the Nation’s own lands, housing or public works process. If the parcel is in the ALR, say so on the first call, since that changes which office you deal with. Valleyview isn’t the permit office and can’t confirm what applies to your lot, so give them your address and what the container is for, and ask before it’s delivered.

Read the permits guide
Can you build a container office or workshop for a site in Bouchie Lake?

Yes. Custom builds are done in Valleyview’s own yard in Kamloops, where openings are cut and framing, insulation, electrical rough-in and any paint are added, then the finished container is delivered to Bouchie Lake, usually by tilt-deck. You approve one itemized quote covering the container, every modification and delivery before any steel gets cut. You can start from a sketch, photos or a design made in the Container Studio.

Custom container builds
Can I pay monthly for a shipping container in Bouchie Lake?

Yes, through lease-to-own, the only financing Valleyview offers. You get one up-front quote for a 20ft or 40ft container that itemizes the monthly payment, the term and delivery to Bouchie Lake. Every payment builds toward ownership, you can pay out the balance early whenever you like, and at the end of the term the container is yours. The monthly cost depends on the container’s size, condition and your delivery location. Valleyview doesn’t rent containers, so lease-to-own is the monthly option.

How lease-to-own works
Do you deliver to other towns in the Cariboo besides Bouchie Lake?

Yes. Deliveries in the Cariboo also go to Williams Lake, 100 Mile House, Forest Grove, Bridge Lake and Horsefly, along with the rest of the region. Every delivery is quoted for its own address by distance and site access. Don’t see your community on the site? Call (778) 694-4050; Valleyview delivers to off-grid sites, ranches, First Nations communities and end-of-road locations across BC.

How do I get a quote for container delivery to Bouchie Lake?

Call (778) 694-4050, email valleyviewcontainers@gmail.com, or use the quote form on the website. Say which size and condition you want, how many, and where it’s going; a postal code is enough to start, and the full address or directions are needed before you order. Photos of the access help. The quote is free, doesn’t commit you to buy, and gives one all-in price for the container and delivery.

Sizes & specs

Will a car, quad or side-by-side fit in a shipping container?

It depends on the vehicle, so measure it first. Compare its length with the interior length, about 19ft 4in in a 20ft or 39ft 5in in a 40ft. Compare its height, including any trailer it sits on, plus six inches for the ramp angle, with the door opening: about 7ft 5in on a standard container or 8ft 5in on a high cube. Compare its width, mirrors included, with the interior width of about 7ft 8in, and ask Valleyview to confirm the door opening width.

New & used containers

What colours can I get on a new shipping container?

New 20ft containers can be ordered in a range of standard factory RAL colours, such as RAL 7035 Light Grey, RAL 9010 Pure White, RAL 7016 Anthracite Grey, RAL 6007 Bottle Green and RAL 5010 Gentian Blue, and other RAL colours are available on request. Price varies by colour, so ask for current options when you request a quote. For other new sizes, ask which colours are available.

Prices

Does a 40ft container cost twice as much as a 20ft?

Not at Valleyview’s current listed prices: a 40ft is listed at less than twice the price of a 20ft in the same condition. A used 40ft is listed at $3,300–$3,600 against $2,500–$3,000 for a used 20ft, and holds about 2,390 cubic feet to the 20ft’s 1,170. A new one-trip 40ft high cube is listed at $6,200–$7,100 against $3,700–$4,200 for a new one-trip 20ft. All prices are plus tax and delivery, and a 40ft needs more room to deliver and place, so check that your site can take one.

Buying & paying

Can I get one quote for several containers?

Yes. On the homepage price list you can select more than one container and send them as a single quote request, or list each size, condition and quantity in your message or on the phone. If the units are going to different addresses, give each one, since delivery is quoted by distance and site access. Larger multi-unit orders are handled as fleet orders, with volume pricing and no fixed minimum.

Fleet and bulk orders

Delivery

What should I check when my container arrives?

Check the doors, the floor and the overall condition before you sign. Make sure both doors swing and lock cleanly, look for soft spots in the floor, and stand inside with the doors shut to look for pinholes of daylight along the roof and door seals. Under Valleyview’s terms, any damage or discrepancy has to be noted on the delivery receipt at the time of delivery.

Can you deliver a container to a construction or job site?

Yes. A job site needs the same things as any delivery: firm, level ground where the container will sit and a straight, clear approach for the tilt-deck truck, with room overhead. Keep that path free of parked machines, material piles and people on the day, and name a site contact who can meet the driver, confirm placement and sign the delivery receipt. Site requirements are confirmed when you get your quote.

Preparing your site

How level does the ground need to be for a shipping container?

As level as you can make it, end to end and side to side. The practical test is the doors: both should swing open, close and seal without forcing. A container on uneven ground twists, which makes the doors hard to open and close, and doors that do not seat properly cannot lock properly. Get the pad level, and any blocks level with each other, before delivery day, while nothing is sitting on them.

Owning a container

What maintenance does a shipping container need each year?

Walk around it once a year looking for deep scratches, dents and bubbling paint, especially on the roof and corners, and treat any surface rust. Wash the outside, grease the hinge pins and locking bars, and check the door gaskets for cracks or tears. Confirm it is still level after the spring thaw, check the blocks for cracking or shifting, keep the vents clear and make sure water drains away from the base.

Permits & bylaws

Should I get the local government’s answer in writing?

Yes. Write down the name of the person you spoke with, the date and what they told you. If the answer is that nothing is required for your plans, ask for that by email. A written answer is useful if a neighbour complains or a bylaw officer asks about the container later, and it keeps everyone working from the same information when you order.

Custom builds

Do I have to enter my contact details every time I open the Container Studio?

No. You enter your name, email and phone number before the studio opens, and that browser remembers them, so later visits skip the step. The details unlock your build, quote requests and tour film, and Valleyview uses them only to follow up on your design. The studio is free to use, and nothing is ordered or paid for inside it.

Business & lease-to-own

Can containers on one order go to different sites, or arrive in stages?

Yes. A fleet order can go to several sites on one coordinated schedule, and you can take delivery in phases as each site comes online. List every address and its access in your quote request, since each delivery is quoted by distance and site access, and name someone at each site to meet the driver, confirm placement, inspect the container and sign the delivery receipt. The whole order runs on one quote, one invoice and one contact.

Refrigerated containers

Should I buy a 20ft reefer or have a standard container converted for cold storage?

Choose the factory reefer if you have 3-phase power, need frozen storage and a 20ft box is the right size. A converted standard 20ft or 40ft suits a site with only single-phase power, a buyer who wants a 40ft footprint or a roll-up door, or a cooler that never needs to go below freezing. Valleyview sells both, so tell the team what you’re storing and what power is on site, and it will recommend one and explain why.

Cold storage options

Uses

Can a shipping container work as a garden shed on a small lot?

Yes. A 10ft takes about half the footprint of a 20ft, which suits tight residential lots and garden storage, but it’s sold new only and in limited supply, so confirm availability before you plan around it. A 20ft gives room for shelving with space to turn around. Leave clear space in front of the doors for them to swing, and check setbacks and size limits with your municipality or regional district before ordering.
