Containers for Cluculz Lake Properties

Serving Cluculz Lake Between Prince George and Vanderhoof

Cluculz Lake is a lakeside community beside Highway 16, between Prince George and Vanderhoof, set in rolling pine and spruce country with farmland around it. The name comes from a Dakelh (Carrier) place name that refers to whitefish, and the lake holds rainbow trout, kokanee and lake trout. Year-round residents, cabin owners and small farms buy containers for boats, fishing gear and dock sections over winter, and for hay, feed and tools.

We supply 20ft and 40ft containers, new and used, in standard and high cube heights, plus double-door and side-door units for awkward lake lots. Every unit is inspected and wind and watertight before it leaves Kamloops, and we quote one all-in price for the container and delivery to Cluculz Lake. Describe sloped lots and narrow lake roads up front so we can plan the drop.

FAQ

Cluculz Lake shipping container FAQ

Straight answers on buying, delivering and setting up a container in Cluculz Lake and across the Northern Interior & Robson Valley.

Buying in Cluculz Lake

Can I get a shipping container delivered to Cluculz Lake?

Yes. Valleyview delivers new and used containers to homes, businesses and job sites in Cluculz Lake and across the Northern Interior and Robson Valley, most of them set down by a tilt-deck truck that slides the container onto your prepared site. Distance changes the delivery quote rather than whether Cluculz Lake is served; what decides whether a particular site works is the route in and the access at the drop spot.

How much does it cost to deliver a container to Cluculz Lake?

It’s quoted for your site by distance and access; Valleyview doesn’t publish a flat delivery rate or a free-delivery zone. The price depends on the distance from where the container ships (the Kamloops yard or a partner depot) to your address in Cluculz Lake, the roads on the way in, and how easily the truck can line up and back in. Delivery isn’t included in listed container prices, but the delivery quote itself is free.

How long does it take to get a container delivered to Cluculz Lake?

It’s set when you order, not promised ahead. Timing depends on whether the unit you choose is already in Valleyview’s yard or has to be sourced, plus the distance to Cluculz Lake, access at your site, and the roads and weather. Tell Valleyview about any deadline when you ask for a quote, and the delivery window is confirmed with your order.

Do I have to come to Kamloops to buy a container for delivery to Cluculz Lake?

No. You can request a quote by phone, email or the website’s quote form and confirm the order when you accept it, all without visiting. Valleyview’s only yard is in Kamloops, at D3-1764 Kelly Douglas Rd, and Valleyview doesn’t operate a depot in Cluculz Lake; your container comes from that yard or from a partner depot. When it arrives, you or someone you designate inspects it and signs the delivery receipt, noting any damage at that time.

What container sizes can I buy in Cluculz Lake?

All three sizes, 10ft, 20ft and 40ft, can be delivered to Cluculz Lake. The catalogue has the new 10ft; new and used 20ft units, new 20ft double-door and side-door units and a 20ft refrigerated container; new 40ft high cubes; and used 40ft containers in standard or high cube height. What’s in Valleyview’s yard now is on the live inventory page, other units can be sourced through partner depots, and availability is confirmed with your quote.

Can I see a container before it’s delivered to Cluculz Lake?

Yes, in a few ways. Each listing on the live inventory page is a unit physically in the Kamloops yard, with a photo when available, its recorded condition and its unit number when legible. For a unit sourced from a partner depot, ask what photos and condition details come with your quote. If you’re passing through Kamloops, call ahead to arrange a look in person, and inspect the container again when it arrives.

See the yard inventory
Do shipping containers cost more in Cluculz Lake?

They can, for two reasons. Part of a container’s own price depends on where the unit is sourced, which is one reason listed prices are ranges, and delivery to Cluculz Lake is quoted separately for your site. Condition and, for new units, colour move the figure too. Your quote confirms the exact numbers, in Canadian dollars plus tax.

What does my site need for container delivery in Cluculz Lake?

A straight, clear approach for the truck and a firm, level spot for the container. For a 20ft, allow 72 feet of total clear length in a straight line, including where the container will sit, plus at least 10 to 12 feet of width and 16 feet of overhead clearance; a 40ft needs more, so ask. Compacted gravel, asphalt or concrete works, ideally with blocks under the corners. Before you book, walk the route in and measure the narrowest gate or gap.

Can you deliver to rural or hard-to-reach sites around Cluculz Lake?

Yes, and they’re quoted like any other delivery, by distance and by what the route and site need. Before booking, the route is planned the way it actually drives, including the approach, the turnaround and the set-down. Send GPS coordinates or a map pin for a site without a street address, describe gates, forks and creek crossings, and add photos of the access road and drop spot.

Should I get a 20ft or 40ft container for a property in Cluculz Lake?

A 20ft suits household, tool and job-site storage, and a 40ft suits larger loads if the site has room for the truck. A 20ft holds about 1,170 cubic feet on a footprint roughly the size of a single-car garage, while a 40ft holds about 2,390 cubic feet, or about 2,690 as a high cube. A 10ft has half a 20ft’s footprint for tight lots, though supply is limited.

Do snow and frozen ground affect container delivery in Cluculz Lake?

They can, in both directions. In the Northern Interior and Robson Valley, snow, ice and road conditions can move a date, and Valleyview’s terms exclude liability for weather delays. Frozen ground can make some sites easier to reach, and remote sites are planned around seasonal access windows. Clear snow from the route and drop spot, and choose a spot that stays firm after the thaw.

How do I look after a shipping container through winter in Cluculz Lake?

Plan for temperature swings and winter cold. Keep snow and wet leaves off the roof, keep the vents clear and use desiccants so condensation doesn’t drip on your things. Avoid heating it on and off, which is harder on a container than no heat at all. Before winter, put graphite or a dry silicone lubricant in the lock, and after the spring thaw check that the container is still level.

What are the rules for placing a shipping container in Cluculz Lake?

It depends on the property and how you’ll use the container, so check before delivery with the local government or other authority responsible for land use at your address; on First Nation reserve land, that’s the Nation’s own lands, housing or public works process. Valleyview isn’t the permit office and can’t confirm what applies to your lot. Ask about zoning, setbacks, lot coverage and whether a permit or siting plan is needed, and get the answer in writing, noting who you spoke to and when.

Read the permits guide
Can you build a container office or workshop for a site in Cluculz Lake?

Yes. Custom builds are done in Valleyview’s own yard in Kamloops, where openings are cut and framing, insulation, electrical rough-in and any paint are added, then the finished container is delivered to Cluculz Lake, usually by tilt-deck. You approve one itemized quote covering the container, every modification and delivery before any steel gets cut. You can start from a sketch, photos or a design made in the Container Studio.

Custom container builds
Is lease-to-own available for containers delivered to Cluculz Lake?

Yes. Lease-to-own is offered on 20ft and 40ft containers delivered to Cluculz Lake, with the monthly payment, the term and delivery itemized in one up-front quote. The monthly cost depends on the container’s size, condition and your delivery location. Every payment builds toward ownership, and you can ask for a payout figure at any time. Valleyview doesn’t rent containers; lease-to-own is the monthly option.

How lease-to-own works
Do you deliver to other towns in the Northern Interior and Robson Valley besides Cluculz Lake?

Yes. Deliveries in the Northern Interior and Robson Valley also go to Prince George, Vanderhoof, Fort St. James, McBride and Valemount, along with the rest of the region. Every delivery is quoted for its own address by distance and site access. Don’t see your community on the site? Call (778) 694-4050; Valleyview delivers to off-grid sites, ranches, First Nations communities and end-of-road locations across BC.

How do I order a shipping container for delivery to Cluculz Lake?

Start with a quote by phone at (778) 694-4050, by email, or through the website’s quote form. Include the container type, your address or postal code, your timeline and any access concerns, plus photos if the route in is tight. Quotes are free and don’t commit you to buy. When you accept, Valleyview confirms the order with an invoice or confirmation, and the delivery date is agreed at that point.

Sizes & specs

Should I buy one 40ft container or two 20ft containers?

One 40ft suits a site with room for it and a need for one large space; two 20ft containers suit tighter or split sites. The 40ft gives about 2,390 cubic feet in one open run, slightly more than two 20ft units at about 2,340, with no wall in the middle and four corners to level instead of eight. Each 20ft needs less delivery room and is easier to move later. Compare delivered quotes for both.

20ft vs 40ft guide

New & used containers

What does “cargo-worthy” mean on a used container?

Cargo-worthy, often shortened to CW, means the container has been inspected and judged structurally sound and watertight enough to carry cargo by sea. It has been in shipping service, so expect surface rust and cosmetic dents, but no holes, no soft floor and doors that seal. Valleyview’s catalogue lists its used 20ft, 40ft and 40ft high cube containers as cargo-worthy.

Prices

What does a new 20ft shipping container cost?

A new one-trip 20ft container is listed at $3,700–$4,200 plus tax and delivery. One-trip means it was loaded once for a single voyage, so it is structurally new, with factory paint and minimal wear. New 20ft units come in a range of factory RAL colours, and pricing varies slightly by colour, so ask for the current colours when you request a quote.

Buying & paying

Are GST and PST included in your container prices?

No. Listed container prices are in Canadian dollars plus tax and delivery, and applicable GST and PST are added to your quote and invoice. Ask for the total including tax when you get your quote so you know the full amount before you pay. How a container purchase is treated for your business or personal taxes is a question for your accountant.

Delivery

What should I check when my container arrives?

Check the doors, the floor and the overall condition before you sign. Make sure both doors swing and lock cleanly, look for soft spots in the floor, and stand inside with the doors shut to look for pinholes of daylight along the roof and door seals. Under Valleyview’s terms, any damage or discrepancy has to be noted on the delivery receipt at the time of delivery.

Can I pick up a container from the yard myself?

Ask first, because customer pickup isn’t a published option. Valleyview delivers by tilt-deck truck, so call (778) 694-4050 to ask whether collecting the unit you want is possible and what loading it would involve. If delivery suits you better, the delivery quote is free and is priced to the site the container is actually going to.

Preparing your site

Should I clear grass and brush from around my container?

Yes. Grass and brush growing against the bottom rail hold moisture on the steel that carries the floor, which invites rust on the rails and cross-members. Clear the drop spot of debris before delivery, then keep the ground around the container trimmed so water drains away and you can see the rails and blocks when you check them. Trimmed brush also takes away cover a thief could use.

Owning a container

Can I sell my container later if I no longer need it?

Yes. Once it is paid for, the container is your property to keep, move or sell. Valleyview does not advertise a buyback or trade-in, so plan on selling it yourself. A buyer will judge it the way you did, by the doors and seals, roof, floor, rust and unit number, so routine maintenance and good records make it easier to show its condition.

Permits & bylaws

How much does a container permit cost, and how long does approval take?

Valleyview cannot give a number for either, because neither is Valleyview’s to control. Review time depends on your municipality or regional district and on whether the application is complete the first time. Permit fees are set locally and are not part of Valleyview’s quote, and neither are energy advisor, septic design or connection fees. On a custom build, the quote lists what engineering coordination it includes. Ask the building department about fees and review time before you plan your schedule.

Custom builds

What should I tell you about power before you wire a custom container?

Tell Valleyview everything that will draw power and where the power will come from. The basic electrical package suits lights, chargers and hand tools. A welder, compressor or electric heater needs a dedicated 240V circuit, and an espresso machine, commercial fridge or draft cooler each wants its own circuit, so list that equipment when you ask for a quote. Those circuits are roughed in per design, and your electrician connects the panel to the site’s supply.

Business & lease-to-own

Is there a credit check, down payment or interest rate on lease-to-own?

Valleyview doesn’t publish those details on its website, so ask directly when you request a lease-to-own quote. Before you commit, ask about approval, any down payment, the interest or financing cost, the term length, what happens if a payment is late, and who is responsible for insuring the container during the term, and get the answers in writing.

Refrigerated containers

What happens to a reefer if the power goes out?

The refrigeration unit only holds your set temperature while it has power. The foam-filled walls help limit temperature swings, but how long the inside stays cold depends on the load, the set point and the weather, so plan for outages before you load product that can’t be allowed to warm up. Temperature monitoring can be added, quoted per design, so you know whether the box held overnight.

Uses

If I might convert my container later, what’s worth doing before it’s delivered?

Anything that is awkward to do on site. Closed-cell foam under the floor is simple to add in the yard and awkward once the container is on the ground; floor sealing, an overlay or a new deck is usually cheaper done in the yard while the box is empty; and paint is easier in a yard than on your site. If you know where a door or window will go, have it cut now, because adding one after insulation means cutting through your own vapour barrier.
