Containers Delivered to Daajing Giids on Skidegate Inlet

(778) 694-4050

Serving Daajing Giids and Skidegate Inlet

Daajing Giids, known as Queen Charlotte until 2022, stretches along Skidegate Inlet at the south end of Graham Island. Charter and tour operators heading into Gwaii Haanas National Park Reserve and Haida Heritage Site use containers to store kayaks, camping gear and marine supplies between seasons. Homeowners, small businesses and trades in the village add one for a workshop, overflow stock or lockable storage close to home.

The Skidegate Landing ferry terminal is inside the village boundaries at its east end, so a container off the Prince Rupert sailing has only a short drive west along the inlet to most lots. We supply 20ft and 40ft units, standard or high cube, with double-door, side-door, refrigerated and custom builds available, all inspected and wind and watertight. One all-in price covers container and delivery.

FAQ

Daajing Giids shipping container FAQ

Straight answers on buying, delivering and setting up a container in Daajing Giids and across the North Coast & Central Coast.

Buying in Daajing Giids

Does Valleyview Containers deliver to Daajing Giids?

Yes. Valleyview’s delivery area covers all of British Columbia, including Daajing Giids, and takes in homes, acreages, businesses, job sites and remote properties. Distance is priced into the delivery quote rather than limiting where containers go, so the questions that matter are whether the truck has a clear way in and room to set the container down.

What does it cost to have a container delivered to Daajing Giids?

Delivery to Daajing Giids isn’t part of the listed container price; it’s quoted for the actual site, and Valleyview doesn’t publish a flat rate. The quote reflects the distance from where the container ships (the Kamloops yard or a partner depot) to your address in Daajing Giids, the ferry crossing, the roads on the way in, and how easily the truck can line up and back in. A level pad and room for the tilt-deck help keep it down, and the delivery quote is free.

How long does it take to get a container delivered to Daajing Giids?

The delivery date is agreed when you order rather than promised in advance. It depends on where your container is coming from, the distance to Daajing Giids, your site, and road and weather conditions. With your quote, Valleyview confirms access, quotes the delivery and gives you a delivery window, so mention any deadline you’re working to when you ask.

Is there a Valleyview container yard in Daajing Giids?

No. Valleyview’s only yard is in Kamloops, at D3-1764 Kelly Douglas Rd, and Valleyview doesn’t operate a depot in Daajing Giids; your container comes from that yard or from a partner depot and is quoted delivered to your address. You don’t need to visit to buy: request a quote by phone, email or the website’s quote form, confirm the order when you accept the quote, and inspect the container when it arrives.

Which containers can I get delivered to Daajing Giids?

Any unit in Valleyview’s catalogue: the new 10ft; new and used 20ft containers, plus new 20ft double-door and side-door units and a 20ft refrigerated container; and 40ft containers, new as high cubes (one with side doors) or used in standard or high cube height. The live inventory page shows units already in Valleyview’s yard, and other units can be sourced through partner depots on request and quoted delivered to Daajing Giids. Availability, especially for the 10ft, is confirmed with your quote.

How do I check a container’s condition before it’s delivered to Daajing Giids?

Ask for the details before you order. Each listing on the live inventory page is a unit in the Kamloops yard, shown with a photo when available, its recorded condition and its unit number when legible, and you can ask about the floor or any other detail before you commit. For a container sourced from a partner depot, ask what photos and condition details come with your quote, and inspect it again when it arrives.

See the yard inventory
Is the listed price what I’ll pay for a container in Daajing Giids?

The listed range is a guide to the container itself, and your quote confirms the exact figure. Where a container lands in its range depends on its condition, its colour if it’s new and where it’s sourced, which is why buyers in different towns can see different figures for the same container. Prices are in Canadian dollars plus tax, with delivery quoted separately.

What does my site need for container delivery in Daajing Giids?

Firm, level ground and room for the tilt-deck truck. The spot should be dry and load-bearing, such as compacted gravel, asphalt or concrete, with blocks or railway ties under the corners recommended. For a 20ft, the truck needs 72 feet of straight, clear length including the container’s final spot, 10 to 12 feet of width and 16 feet overhead; a 40ft needs more. Look up along the route in, too: hydro lines, branches and carport roofs all count against that overhead space.

Do you deliver to acreages and off-grid properties near Daajing Giids?

Yes, and they’re quoted like any other delivery, by distance and by what the route and site need. Before booking, the route is planned the way it actually drives, including the approach, the turnaround and the set-down. Send GPS coordinates or a map pin for a site without a street address, describe gates, forks and creek crossings, and add photos of the access road and drop spot.

What size container is right for a property in Daajing Giids?

A 20ft suits household, tool and job-site storage, and a 40ft suits larger loads if the site has room for the truck. A 20ft holds about 1,170 cubic feet on a footprint roughly the size of a single-car garage, while a 40ft holds about 2,390 cubic feet, or about 2,690 as a high cube. A 10ft has half a 20ft’s footprint for tight lots, though supply is limited.

Is winter container delivery possible in Daajing Giids?

It depends on the roads in and the state of your site on the day. In the North Coast and Central Coast region, snow, ice or heavy rain can affect the roads and soften the ground, and weather can move a date; Valleyview’s terms exclude liability for weather delays. Remote sites are planned around seasonal access windows. Clear snow from the route and drop spot, and call before delivery day if the ground is soft.

How do I look after a shipping container through the seasons in Daajing Giids?

Plan for both wet weather and cold. Keep the vents clear and use desiccants to control condensation, keep snow and wet leaves off the roof, and set the container on blocks on a well-drained pad so the steel stays out of standing water. Avoid heating it on and off, put graphite or a dry silicone lubricant in the lock before winter, and check the container is still level after the thaw.

What are the rules for placing a shipping container in Daajing Giids?

It depends on your property and how you’ll use the container, so ask the local government or other authority responsible for land use at your address before ordering; on First Nation reserve land, that’s the Nation’s own lands, housing or public works process. The answer can change if you modify the container or live or work in it. Ask about the zone, setbacks, lot coverage, any permit or siting plan, and whether ALR, a floodplain or a covenant applies, then get the answer in writing.

Read the permits guide
Can you build a container office or workshop for a site in Daajing Giids?

Yes. Site offices, workshops, cold storage and other builds are made in Valleyview’s Kamloops yard and delivered to Daajing Giids like a plain container, with delivery quoted by distance and site access. Every build starts from an inspected, wind and watertight container, and one itemized quote covers the container, each modification and delivery before any steel gets cut. Timing depends on the spec and is confirmed in your quote.

Custom container builds
Can I pay monthly for a shipping container in Daajing Giids?

Yes, through lease-to-own, the only financing Valleyview offers. You get one up-front quote for a 20ft or 40ft container that itemizes the monthly payment, the term and delivery to Daajing Giids. Every payment builds toward ownership, you can pay out the balance early whenever you like, and at the end of the term the container is yours. The monthly cost depends on the container’s size, condition and your delivery location. Valleyview doesn’t rent containers, so lease-to-own is the monthly option.

How lease-to-own works
Where else in the North Coast and Central Coast region do you deliver besides Daajing Giids?

All of the North Coast and Central Coast region, including Terrace, Kitimat, Prince Rupert, Port Edward and Stewart. Each delivery is quoted for its own address by distance and site access. If your community isn’t listed on the site, call (778) 694-4050: deliveries also go to off-grid sites, ranches, First Nations communities and end-of-road locations across BC.

How do I order a shipping container for delivery to Daajing Giids?

Start with a quote by phone at (778) 694-4050, by email, or through the website’s quote form. Include the container type, your address or postal code, your timeline and any access concerns, plus photos if the route in is tight. Quotes are free and don’t commit you to buy. When you accept, Valleyview confirms the order with an invoice or confirmation, and the delivery date is agreed at that point.

Sizes & specs

What size container works for tractors and farm equipment?

For tractors and other tall machinery, look at a 40ft high cube first, because the door opening decides what drives in: about 8ft 5in on a high cube against about 7ft 5in on a standard container. Measure the tallest point and add six inches, and check the width, including mirrors and any loader, against the interior width of about 7ft 8in. For feed, tools and parts, the catalogue lists used 20ft and 40ft standard containers for farm and acreage storage.

New & used containers

What does “one-trip” mean on a new container?

One-trip means the container was manufactured overseas, loaded once for a single voyage to North America, then sold. It is structurally new with minimal wear: straight walls, intact paint, tight door seals and a manufacturer’s plate only a year or two old. Valleyview’s new 20ft containers, including the double-door and side-door units, and its new 40ft high cubes are listed as one-trip.

Prices

What does a new 40ft high cube container cost?

A new one-trip 40ft high cube is listed at $6,200–$7,100 plus tax and delivery. It’s a foot taller than a standard container and holds about 2,690 cubic feet, with clean factory paint and a manufacturer’s warranty. If you also want full-length side access, the new 40ft high cube side-door container is listed at $9,000–$10,000. A high cube rides about a foot higher on the delivery truck, so check overhead clearance along the route to your drop spot.

Buying & paying

Where is Valleyview’s container yard, and what are your hours?

The yard and office are at D3-1764 Kelly Douglas Rd, Kamloops, BC V2C 5S4, open seven days a week from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Call (778) 694-4050 during those hours. The units on the live inventory page are on the ground there, and containers are delivered across BC from this yard. To look at a particular unit, call ahead to arrange it and check it hasn’t sold.

Delivery

Can you deliver several containers to the same site?

Yes. Several containers can go to one site, and multi-unit deliveries are coordinated. Plan the layout before delivery day: the truck needs a straight run to each unit’s spot and room to turn around, so set the order of drops so a container already set down doesn’t block the run to the next. Leave room in front of each set of doors. Send a sketch or photos of the layout with your quote request so the drops can be planned.

Bulk container orders
Is a 40ft container harder to deliver than a 20ft?

It needs more room. Valleyview’s published delivery clearances are for a 20ft container, and a 40ft needs more, so ask for the figures for your site when you book. A 20ft is easier and cheaper to move, which matters on tight lots and narrow driveways. Both need a straight, clear path for the truck, open overhead space and firm, level ground where the container lands.

Compare 20ft and 40ft

Preparing your site

Can a container go right beside my house, shop or fence?

It can, if the truck can reach the spot and local rules allow it. The truck backs in on a straight line and the container lands at the end of that line, so the gap has to fit the truck, which needs at least 10 to 12 feet of width, not just the container. Leave room for the doors to open, and ask your municipality or regional district what setbacks apply first. Backing it against a fence or building also removes approach angles for a thief.

BC delivery guide

Owning a container

Are my container and its contents covered by my insurance?

Ask your insurer or broker, because Valleyview cannot tell you what your policy covers. Ask whether the container and what you store in it are covered under your existing property or equipment policy. A stored item is not automatically insured just because it is locked. Have the unit number, photos of the container and contents, and your invoice ready when you call.

Permits & bylaws

Can a bylaw require screening or a certain colour on a shipping container?

Some can, so ask. A local bylaw or development permit area may ask for fencing or landscape screening, restrict placement in a front yard, or call for a particular or neutral finish instead of faded or weathered paint. If a colour is required, tell Valleyview when you ask for a quote. New 20ft containers can be ordered in a range of factory RAL colours, and Valleyview can repaint a container in a RAL colour at its yard before delivery.

Custom builds

What kinds of custom container builds do you do?

Valleyview builds site offices, workshops and tool cribs, farm and ranch storage, refrigerated cold storage, pop-up shops and vendor bars, equipment enclosures, crew units for workforce camps, bunkies, garden suites and turnkey container homes. The first seven have published starting packages: a base container plus listed menu items, or a stock 20ft reefer for cold storage. Bunkies, garden suites and homes are quoted per design. For any other idea, Valleyview will tell you whether it is workable and, if it is, quote it per design.

Business & lease-to-own

Can you repaint or re-decal containers we already own, or add unit numbers?

Often, yes. The branding service covers repainting and re-decaling existing containers, for example after a rebrand or a new phone number, and yard numbers, unit IDs and safety markings can be added alongside your brand. Send photos of each unit and describe the work you want. It’s quoted per design; whether it’s worth doing depends on each container’s condition, and where the work is done, plus any transport, is confirmed in the quote.

Refrigerated containers

What do people store in a refrigerated shipping container?

Reefers hold food-service stock, farm produce, meat, fish and game, kegs and finished beverages, and cut flowers. Restaurants, butchers and caterers add one when the walk-in is full; growers, fruit stands and florists hold a harvest until market; breweries, cideries and wineries keep product stable; and lodges, camps and remote communities use one where grocery deliveries are infrequent. If your product has its own storage rules, check them before you load it.

Uses

Can I turn a shipping container into a workshop?

Yes. A workshop needs insulation, power and an everyday entrance besides the cargo doors. Valleyview’s workshop package starts from an inspected used 20ft and adds a steel personnel door, a barred sliding window, steel stud framing, rigid foam and a basic electrical package for your electrician to connect. Dedicated 240V circuits for a welder, compressor or electric heater, roll-up doors and benches are quoted per design. A used 20ft suits a tool crib; a new 40ft high cube gives a full shop more floor and headroom.
