Shipping Containers in Eastgate, BC

Cabin Storage at Manning Park's East Gate

(778) 694-4050

Serving Eastgate and the Upper Similkameen

Valleyview Containers supplies new and used shipping containers to Eastgate, the cabin community at the east entrance to E.C. Manning Provincial Park, on the upper Similkameen River about 50 km by road from Princeton. With the park's hiking trails, ski hill and Lightning Lake up the highway, cabin owners use containers to keep skis, packs, canoes and kayaks between trips, along with the tools and supplies needed to open and close the cabin each season.

Choose 20ft or 40ft, standard or high-cube, with double or side doors, or have one insulated with a personnel door and window as a dry gear room. All are inspected for wind and watertightness, and your quote is all-in, delivery included. Highway 3 is the only road in, and cabin lots near the river can be soft or tight, so ask about placing it on firm, well-drained ground.

FAQ

Eastgate shipping container FAQ

Straight answers on buying, delivering and setting up a container in Eastgate and across the Similkameen.

Buying in Eastgate

Do you deliver shipping containers to Eastgate, BC?

Yes. Valleyview’s delivery area covers all of British Columbia, including Eastgate, BC, and takes in homes, acreages, businesses, job sites and remote properties. Distance is priced into the delivery quote rather than limiting where containers go, so the questions that matter are whether the truck has a clear way in and room to set the container down.

Do listed container prices include delivery to Eastgate, BC?

No. Listed container prices are in Canadian dollars plus tax and delivery, and delivery to Eastgate is quoted separately. Each site is quoted on its own: the distance from where the container ships (the Kamloops yard or a partner depot) to your address in Eastgate, the roads on the way in, and how easily the truck can line up and back in all count. Valleyview doesn’t publish a flat delivery rate or a free-delivery zone; what’s free is the delivery quote itself.

How soon can I get a container delivered to Eastgate, BC?

The delivery date is agreed when you order rather than promised in advance. It depends on where your container is coming from, the distance to Eastgate, your site, and road and weather conditions. With your quote, Valleyview confirms access, quotes the delivery and gives you a delivery window, so mention any deadline you’re working to when you ask.

Do I have to come to Kamloops to buy a container for delivery to Eastgate, BC?

No. You can request a quote by phone, email or the website’s quote form and confirm the order when you accept it, all without visiting. Valleyview’s only yard is in Kamloops, at D3-1764 Kelly Douglas Rd, and Valleyview doesn’t operate a depot in Eastgate; your container comes from that yard or from a partner depot. When it arrives, you or someone you designate inspects it and signs the delivery receipt, noting any damage at that time.

Which containers can I get delivered to Eastgate, BC?

Any unit in Valleyview’s catalogue: the new 10ft; new and used 20ft containers, plus new 20ft double-door and side-door units and a 20ft refrigerated container; and 40ft containers, new as high cubes (one with side doors) or used in standard or high cube height. The live inventory page shows units already in Valleyview’s yard, and other units can be sourced through partner depots on request and quoted delivered to Eastgate. Availability, especially for the 10ft, is confirmed with your quote.

Compare all containers
Can I see a container before it’s delivered to Eastgate, BC?

Yes, in a few ways. Each listing on the live inventory page is a unit physically in the Kamloops yard, with a photo when available, its recorded condition and its unit number when legible. For a unit sourced from a partner depot, ask what photos and condition details come with your quote. If you’re passing through Kamloops, call ahead to arrange a look in person, and inspect the container again when it arrives.

See the yard inventory
Is the listed price what I’ll pay for a container in Eastgate, BC?

The listed range is a guide to the container itself, and your quote confirms the exact figure. Where a container lands in its range depends on its condition, its colour if it’s new and where it’s sourced, which is why buyers in different towns can see different figures for the same container. Prices are in Canadian dollars plus tax, with delivery quoted separately.

How do I prepare my site for container delivery in Eastgate, BC?

A straight, clear approach for the truck and a firm, level spot for the container. For a 20ft, allow 72 feet of total clear length in a straight line, including where the container will sit, plus at least 10 to 12 feet of width and 16 feet of overhead clearance; a 40ft needs more, so ask. Compacted gravel, asphalt or concrete works, ideally with blocks under the corners. Before you book, walk the route in and measure the narrowest gate or gap.

Can you deliver to rural or hard-to-reach sites around Eastgate, BC?

Yes. The service area takes in rural, remote and off-grid sites around Eastgate, BC. Valleyview’s trucks run gravel roads, forest service roads and seasonal access, and each route is planned before the truck leaves: approach, turnaround and set-down, with a backup plan where a bridge weight rating is in question. Describe gates, creek crossings and the last stretch in, and send GPS coordinates or a map pin if the site has no street address.

What size container is right for a property in Eastgate, BC?

Choose a 20ft if space or delivery access is tight, and a 40ft if you need volume. A 20ft gives about 1,170 cubic feet on a footprint roughly the size of a single-car garage; a 40ft gives about 2,390, or about 2,690 as a high cube, but needs more room for the truck. Check the setbacks that apply to your lot before you choose, and mark the footprint with room for the doors to swing.

Is winter container delivery possible in Eastgate, BC?

It depends on the roads in and the state of your site on the day. In the Similkameen and South Okanagan, snow, ice and road conditions can move a date, and Valleyview’s terms exclude liability for weather delays. Frozen ground can make some sites easier to reach, and remote sites are planned around seasonal access windows. Clear snow from the route and drop spot, and choose a spot that stays firm after the thaw.

What should I do to keep a container in good shape in Eastgate, BC?

Plan for temperature swings and winter cold. Keep snow and wet leaves off the roof, keep the vents clear and use desiccants so condensation doesn’t drip on your things. Avoid heating it on and off, which is harder on a container than no heat at all. Before winter, put graphite or a dry silicone lubricant in the lock, and after the spring thaw check that the container is still level.

What are the rules for placing a shipping container in Eastgate, BC?

It depends on your property and how you’ll use the container, so ask the local government or other authority responsible for land use at your address before ordering; on First Nation reserve land, that’s the Nation’s own lands, housing or public works process. The answer can change if you modify the container or live or work in it. Ask about the zone, setbacks, lot coverage, any permit or siting plan, and whether ALR, a floodplain or a covenant applies, then get the answer in writing.

Read the permits guide
Can I get a custom container build delivered to Eastgate, BC?

Yes. Custom builds are done in Valleyview’s own yard in Kamloops, where openings are cut and framing, insulation, electrical rough-in and any paint are added, then the finished container is delivered to Eastgate, usually by tilt-deck. You approve one itemized quote covering the container, every modification and delivery before any steel gets cut. You can start from a sketch, photos or a design made in the Container Studio.

Custom container builds
Can I pay monthly for a shipping container in Eastgate, BC?

Yes, through lease-to-own, the only financing Valleyview offers. You get one up-front quote for a 20ft or 40ft container that itemizes the monthly payment, the term and delivery to Eastgate. Every payment builds toward ownership, you can pay out the balance early whenever you like, and at the end of the term the container is yours. The monthly cost depends on the container’s size, condition and your delivery location. Valleyview doesn’t rent containers, so lease-to-own is the monthly option.

How lease-to-own works
Where else in the Similkameen and South Okanagan do you deliver besides Eastgate, BC?

All of the Similkameen and South Okanagan, including Princeton, Keremeos, Osoyoos, Oliver and Tulameen. Each delivery is quoted for its own address by distance and site access. If your community isn’t listed on the site, call (778) 694-4050: deliveries also go to off-grid sites, ranches, First Nations communities and end-of-road locations across BC.

How do I get a quote for container delivery to Eastgate, BC?

Call (778) 694-4050, email valleyviewcontainers@gmail.com, or use the quote form on the website. Say which size and condition you want, how many, and where it’s going; a postal code is enough to start, and the full address or directions are needed before you order. Photos of the access help. The quote is free, doesn’t commit you to buy, and gives one all-in price for the container and delivery.

Sizes & specs

Should I buy one 40ft container or two 20ft containers?

One 40ft suits a site with room for it and a need for one large space; two 20ft containers suit tighter or split sites. The 40ft gives about 2,390 cubic feet in one open run, slightly more than two 20ft units at about 2,340, with no wall in the middle and four corners to level instead of eight. Each 20ft needs less delivery room and is easier to move later. Compare delivered quotes for both.

20ft vs 40ft guide

New & used containers

Which condition grades does Valleyview sell?

The catalogue has two: new, with the 20ft and 40ft units sold as one-trip, and used cargo-worthy, plus a refrigerated container. Units in the yard inventory also show the condition recorded for that specific unit. Container grading isn’t governed by one universal standard, so if a quote or listing uses a term you don’t recognize, ask Valleyview what it means for that unit before you buy.

Prices

What does a new 20ft shipping container cost?

A new one-trip 20ft container is listed at $3,700–$4,200 plus tax and delivery. One-trip means it was loaded once for a single voyage, so it is structurally new, with factory paint and minimal wear. New 20ft units come in a range of factory RAL colours, and pricing varies slightly by colour, so ask for the current colours when you request a quote.

Buying & paying

Can I buy a container through my business?

Yes. Companies, farms and other organizations can buy containers outright or on lease-to-own terms. Give the business name when you request a quote, and say whether your purchasing team or funder needs a particular quote format or billing arrangement, so it’s set up correctly from the start. Business buyers can ask for an itemized quote and a formal invoice, and the payment terms are set out on the invoice.

Containers for business

Delivery

Can I pick up a container from the yard myself?

Ask first, because customer pickup isn’t a published option. Valleyview delivers by tilt-deck truck, so call (778) 694-4050 to ask whether collecting the unit you want is possible and what loading it would involve. If delivery suits you better, the delivery quote is free and is priced to the site the container is actually going to.

Can you deliver a container to a construction or job site?

Yes. A job site needs the same things as any delivery: firm, level ground where the container will sit and a straight, clear approach for the tilt-deck truck, with room overhead. Keep that path free of parked machines, material piles and people on the day, and name a site contact who can meet the driver, confirm placement and sign the delivery receipt. Site requirements are confirmed when you get your quote.

Preparing your site

What foundation does a container office, suite or home need?

It depends on the use, the site and your local government. An office or workshop can sit on a slab, gravel pad or blocking without a poured foundation, but one people work in may be reviewed like a small building, with foundation and anchoring details on stamped drawings. A home or garden suite does not sit on blocks: the engineer chooses piers, screw piles, a grade beam or a slab from the soil, frost depth and loads. Ask your municipality or regional district before the container ships.

Container home permit guide

Owning a container

How do I look after the rubber door seals?

Check the rubber gaskets around both doors at least once a year for cracks or tears, and keep them clean and lubricated so they seal properly. A damaged gasket lets in water and pests, and the floor edges and door sill are where rot starts, because that is where wind-driven rain gets in past a tired gasket. If a gasket is cracked, torn or no longer seals, call Valleyview to ask about repairing or replacing it before water reaches the plywood floor.

Permits & bylaws

Is a temporary container treated differently from a permanent one?

It can be, so tell your local government which you mean. A container brought in for a season or a single project may be handled differently from one that stays, and some placements come with a time limit. Ask whether a time limit applies, what happens when it runs out, and what changes if you later decide to keep the container on the property.

Custom builds

Should I choose steel stud or wood framing inside a container?

Steel stud framing is Valleyview’s standard for insulated builds, because it doesn’t rot, swell or feed mould when condensation shows up inside a steel container. Wood stud framing costs less and is available where cost matters more than moisture, but it isn’t recommended where moisture is a concern. Both are priced per container on the published modification menu, and either can be chosen in the Container Studio.

Business & lease-to-own

Is there a credit check, down payment or interest rate on lease-to-own?

Valleyview doesn’t publish those details on its website, so ask directly when you request a lease-to-own quote. Before you commit, ask about approval, any down payment, the interest or financing cost, the term length, what happens if a payment is late, and who is responsible for insuring the container during the term, and get the answers in writing.

Refrigerated containers

What is a reefer container?

A reefer is a refrigerated shipping container: an insulated steel box with its own refrigeration unit on one end. The unit draws air from inside, cools or heats it to the set temperature and circulates it through a T-shaped floor so the temperature stays even from bottom to top. The walls are filled with high-density polyurethane foam. Valleyview sells a 20ft reefer for cold or frozen storage.

Reefer container guide

Uses

Can a container be used at an off-grid property or remote cabin?

Yes. Off the grid, a container works as lockable storage or a small workshop, and the questions are power, moisture, frost and security. The basic electrical package is roughed in for your electrician to connect to a generator or solar setup. Vents or desiccant control condensation in a unit closed up for long stretches, closed-cell foam under the floor suits frost-heave ground, and a lock box over a puck lock is the usual rural setup. Describe the road in when you ask for a delivery quote.
