Containers Delivered to the Beaver Valley

(778) 694-4050

Serving Fruitvale and the Beaver Valley

Valleyview Containers delivers new and used shipping containers to Fruitvale, the village in the Beaver Valley east of Trail on Highway 3B. It began as Beaver Siding, a station on the Nelson and Fort Sheppard Railway, and took the name Fruitvale in 1907 when a new subdivision was promoted. With Champion Lakes Provincial Park off Highway 3B to the northwest, a container here holds canoes, camping gear, and cross-country skis alongside tools and yard equipment.

For Beaver Valley properties we offer 20ft and 40ft containers in standard and high-cube heights, with double-door and side-door models that keep long gear within reach. Each unit is inspected wind and watertight in our Kamloops yard, and your quote is one all-in price covering container and delivery. If your lot sits back from Highway 3B on a gravel lane or slope, mention it so we can plan placement.

FAQ

Fruitvale shipping container FAQ

Straight answers on buying, delivering and setting up a container in Fruitvale and across the West Kootenay & Boundary.

Buying in Fruitvale

Does Valleyview Containers deliver to Fruitvale?

Yes. Valleyview’s delivery area covers all of British Columbia, including Fruitvale, and takes in homes, acreages, businesses, job sites and remote properties. Distance is priced into the delivery quote rather than limiting where containers go, so the questions that matter are whether the truck has a clear way in and room to set the container down.

What does it cost to have a container delivered to Fruitvale?

Delivery to Fruitvale isn’t part of the listed container price; it’s quoted for the actual site, and Valleyview doesn’t publish a flat rate. The quote reflects the distance from where the container ships (the Kamloops yard or a partner depot) to your address in Fruitvale, the roads on the way in, and how easily the truck can line up and back in. A level pad and room for the tilt-deck help keep it down, and the delivery quote is free.

How long does it take to get a container delivered to Fruitvale?

It’s set when you order, not promised ahead. Timing depends on whether the unit you choose is already in Valleyview’s yard or has to be sourced, plus the distance to Fruitvale, access at your site, and the roads and weather. Tell Valleyview about any deadline when you ask for a quote, and the delivery window is confirmed with your order.

Is there a Valleyview container yard in Fruitvale?

No. Valleyview’s only yard is in Kamloops, at D3-1764 Kelly Douglas Rd, and Valleyview doesn’t operate a depot in Fruitvale; your container comes from that yard or from a partner depot and is quoted delivered to your address. You don’t need to visit to buy: request a quote by phone, email or the website’s quote form, confirm the order when you accept the quote, and inspect the container when it arrives.

What container sizes can I buy in Fruitvale?

Any unit in Valleyview’s catalogue: the new 10ft; new and used 20ft containers, plus new 20ft double-door and side-door units and a 20ft refrigerated container; and 40ft containers, new as high cubes (one with side doors) or used in standard or high cube height. The live inventory page shows units already in Valleyview’s yard, and other units can be sourced through partner depots on request and quoted delivered to Fruitvale. Availability, especially for the 10ft, is confirmed with your quote.

How do I check a container’s condition before it’s delivered to Fruitvale?

Ask for the details before you order. Each listing on the live inventory page is a unit in the Kamloops yard, shown with a photo when available, its recorded condition and its unit number when legible, and you can ask about the floor or any other detail before you commit. For a container sourced from a partner depot, ask what photos and condition details come with your quote, and inspect it again when it arrives.

See the yard inventory
Is the listed price what I’ll pay for a container in Fruitvale?

The listed range is a guide to the container itself, and your quote confirms the exact figure. Where a container lands in its range depends on its condition, its colour if it’s new and where it’s sourced, which is why buyers in different towns can see different figures for the same container. Prices are in Canadian dollars plus tax, with delivery quoted separately.

What does my site need for container delivery in Fruitvale?

Firm, level ground and room for the tilt-deck truck. The spot should be dry and load-bearing, such as compacted gravel, asphalt or concrete, with blocks or railway ties under the corners recommended. For a 20ft, the truck needs 72 feet of straight, clear length including the container’s final spot, 10 to 12 feet of width and 16 feet overhead; a 40ft needs more. Look up along the route in, too: hydro lines, branches and carport roofs all count against that overhead space.

Do you deliver to acreages and off-grid properties near Fruitvale?

Yes, and they’re quoted like any other delivery, by distance and by what the route and site need. Before booking, the route is planned the way it actually drives, including the approach, the turnaround and the set-down. Send GPS coordinates or a map pin for a site without a street address, describe gates, forks and creek crossings, and add photos of the access road and drop spot.

Should I get a 20ft or 40ft container for a property in Fruitvale?

A 20ft suits household, tool and job-site storage, and a 40ft suits larger loads if the site has room for the truck. A 20ft holds about 1,170 cubic feet on a footprint roughly the size of a single-car garage, while a 40ft holds about 2,390 cubic feet, or about 2,690 as a high cube. A 10ft has half a 20ft’s footprint for tight lots, though supply is limited.

Do snow and frozen ground affect container delivery in Fruitvale?

They can, in both directions. In the West Kootenay and Boundary, snow, ice and road conditions can move a date, and Valleyview’s terms exclude liability for weather delays. Frozen ground can make some sites easier to reach, and remote sites are planned around seasonal access windows. Clear snow from the route and drop spot, and choose a spot that stays firm after the thaw.

What should I do to keep a container in good shape in Fruitvale?

Plan for temperature swings and winter cold. Keep snow and wet leaves off the roof, keep the vents clear and use desiccants so condensation doesn’t drip on your things. Avoid heating it on and off, which is harder on a container than no heat at all. Before winter, put graphite or a dry silicone lubricant in the lock, and after the spring thaw check that the container is still level.

What are the rules for placing a shipping container in Fruitvale?

It depends on your property and how you’ll use the container, so ask the local government or other authority responsible for land use at your address before ordering; on First Nation reserve land, that’s the Nation’s own lands, housing or public works process. The answer can change if you modify the container or live or work in it. Ask about the zone, setbacks, lot coverage, any permit or siting plan, and whether ALR, a floodplain or a covenant applies, then get the answer in writing.

Read the permits guide
Can I get a custom container build delivered to Fruitvale?

Yes. Custom builds are done in Valleyview’s own yard in Kamloops, where openings are cut and framing, insulation, electrical rough-in and any paint are added, then the finished container is delivered to Fruitvale, usually by tilt-deck. You approve one itemized quote covering the container, every modification and delivery before any steel gets cut. You can start from a sketch, photos or a design made in the Container Studio.

Custom container builds
Can I pay monthly for a shipping container in Fruitvale?

Yes, through lease-to-own, the only financing Valleyview offers. You get one up-front quote for a 20ft or 40ft container that itemizes the monthly payment, the term and delivery to Fruitvale. Every payment builds toward ownership, you can pay out the balance early whenever you like, and at the end of the term the container is yours. The monthly cost depends on the container’s size, condition and your delivery location. Valleyview doesn’t rent containers, so lease-to-own is the monthly option.

How lease-to-own works
Do you deliver to other towns in the West Kootenay and Boundary besides Fruitvale?

Yes. Deliveries in the West Kootenay and Boundary also go to Trail, Castlegar, Nelson, Rossland and Salmo, along with the rest of the region. Every delivery is quoted for its own address by distance and site access. Don’t see your community on the site? Call (778) 694-4050; Valleyview delivers to off-grid sites, ranches, First Nations communities and end-of-road locations across BC.

How do I get a quote for container delivery to Fruitvale?

Call (778) 694-4050, email valleyviewcontainers@gmail.com, or use the quote form on the website. Say which size and condition you want, how many, and where it’s going; a postal code is enough to start, and the full address or directions are needed before you order. Photos of the access help. The quote is free, doesn’t commit you to buy, and gives one all-in price for the container and delivery.

Sizes & specs

What are the dimensions of a 20ft shipping container?

A 20ft container is 20ft long, 8ft wide and 8ft 6in tall outside. Inside, a standard 20ft measures about 19ft 4in long, 7ft 8in wide and 7ft 10in high, for roughly 1,170 cubic feet, and the door opening is about five inches lower than the ceiling. On the ground it takes up roughly the space of a single-car garage. Double-door, side-door and refrigerated 20ft units share the same outside size, though the refrigerated unit has less room inside because of its insulation.

New & used containers

What does “one-trip” mean on a new container?

One-trip means the container was manufactured overseas, loaded once for a single voyage to North America, then sold. It is structurally new with minimal wear: straight walls, intact paint, tight door seals and a manufacturer’s plate only a year or two old. Valleyview’s new 20ft containers, including the double-door and side-door units, and its new 40ft high cubes are listed as one-trip.

Prices

How much more does a new 20ft container cost than a used one?

A new one-trip 20ft is listed at $3,700–$4,200 and a used cargo-worthy 20ft at $2,500–$3,000, a difference of $1,200 at the low end of each range, before tax and delivery. Both hold about 1,170 cubic feet. The extra buys factory paint in a choice of RAL colours, minimal wear and a manufacturer’s warranty. The used unit shows surface rust and dents and is sold without a warranty except as required by law, but it’s inspected and wind and watertight before it’s sold.

Container condition grades

Buying & paying

Can I reserve a container I see on your inventory page?

There’s no way to hold a unit online, but you can ask for that exact unit. Clicking a listing opens the quote form with that listing already named; add your delivery location and timeline, and Valleyview replies with a delivered price for your address. Listings can sell in the meantime, so call (778) 694-4050 if timing matters. An order is only confirmed once Valleyview accepts it and issues an invoice, and a deposit may be required to secure it.

Delivery

How is a shipping container delivered?

By tilt-deck. Most deliveries use a tilt-deck truck or trailer whose deck tilts down hydraulically so the container slides off the back onto your prepared site. A 20ft container is delivered on a pickup with a 22-foot deckover tilt trailer. The truck can’t turn while the container is coming off, so it needs a straight, clear path and firm, level ground where the container will sit.

What if the delivery truck can’t reach the spot I want?

Then a tilt-deck can’t set the container there, which is why access is checked before delivery day. The truck must back in on a straight line with the clear length, width and overhead space the container needs. If your spot fails that test, call before delivery so the drop can be planned, whether that means clearing the route or choosing another spot. For custom homes, garden suites and bunkies, a crane lift may be quoted instead. Access problems found on the day can delay delivery.

Preparing your site

What if my ground is soft or muddy around delivery time?

Call Valleyview before delivery day. The drop spot and the path to it need to be firm and load-bearing, for the truck and for the container, and soft or muddy ground may need firming up or a gravel pad before the drop can go ahead. Delivery dates are agreed when you order, and weather or site-access problems can delay a delivery.

Owning a container

How do I look after the rubber door seals?

Check the rubber gaskets around both doors at least once a year for cracks or tears, and keep them clean and lubricated so they seal properly. A damaged gasket lets in water and pests, and the floor edges and door sill are where rot starts, because that is where wind-driven rain gets in past a tired gasket. If a gasket is cracked, torn or no longer seals, call Valleyview to ask about repairing or replacing it before water reaches the plywood floor.

Permits & bylaws

Should I check local rules before choosing a container size?

Yes. Get the setbacks, coverage limit and any height limit for your lot first, then choose the size. Mark the footprint on the ground where the container will sit, check it against those numbers, and leave room for the doors to swing open and for the delivery truck to line up and back in. If a 20ft will not fit the space the rules leave you, a 10ft has half the footprint.

Compare 20ft and 40ft

Custom builds

Why don’t container homes, garden suites and bunkies have a listed price?

Because each one is designed for its own site, and the engineering and permit-drawing work it needs depends on that site and on what the local government requires. Valleyview quotes these builds per design instead of from the modification menu, and does not publish a starting price for them. To get a price, send the civic address and what the space is for, and the quote follows once the site, services and local requirements are known.

Business & lease-to-own

What happens to a container site office when the project ends?

It can move to your next site or stay on as a yard office or storage. Your electrician disconnects the power feed, and the office lifts back onto a tilt-deck truck by its corner castings with the framing, insulation and wiring left in place. Each move is quoted like a delivery, by distance and site access. Check the placement rules with the local government wherever it goes next.

Container site offices

Refrigerated containers

What happens to a reefer if the power goes out?

The refrigeration unit only holds your set temperature while it has power. The foam-filled walls help limit temperature swings, but how long the inside stays cold depends on the load, the set point and the weather, so plan for outages before you load product that can’t be allowed to warm up. Temperature monitoring can be added, quoted per design, so you know whether the box held overnight.

Uses

Can a container be used at an off-grid property or remote cabin?

Yes. Off the grid, a container works as lockable storage or a small workshop, and the questions are power, moisture, frost and security. The basic electrical package is roughed in for your electrician to connect to a generator or solar setup. Vents or desiccant control condensation in a unit closed up for long stretches, closed-cell foam under the floor suits frost-heave ground, and a lock box over a puck lock is the usual rural setup. Describe the road in when you ask for a delivery quote.
