Storage Containers for Panorama Mountain Village

(778) 694-4050

Serving Panorama and the Toby Creek Valley

Panorama is a mountain resort village in the Purcell Mountains, reached only by the road up the Toby Creek valley from Invermere. Between the ski hill, the village base and the golf course along the Toby Creek canyon, resort operations, property managers and crews building or renovating chalets and condos use containers for grounds equipment, maintenance supplies, event gear and building materials that need to stay dry and locked.

Our 20ft and 40ft containers come in standard and high-cube heights with double-door and side-door options, and custom builds include an insulated site office or a 40ft high-cube crew unit. Every unit is inspected wind and watertight, with delivery from Kamloops in one all-in price. The road up to Panorama climbs into the mountains, so in winter we'll plan the haul around road conditions and snow.

FAQ

Panorama shipping container FAQ

Straight answers on buying, delivering and setting up a container in Panorama and across the East Kootenay & Columbia Valley.

Buying in Panorama

Do you deliver shipping containers to Panorama, BC?

Yes. Valleyview’s delivery area covers all of British Columbia, including Panorama, BC, and takes in homes, acreages, businesses, job sites and remote properties. Distance is priced into the delivery quote rather than limiting where containers go, so the questions that matter are whether the truck has a clear way in and room to set the container down.

Do listed container prices include delivery to Panorama, BC?

No. Listed container prices are in Canadian dollars plus tax and delivery, and delivery to Panorama is quoted separately. Each site is quoted on its own: the distance from where the container ships (the Kamloops yard or a partner depot) to your address in Panorama, the roads on the way in, and how easily the truck can line up and back in all count. Valleyview doesn’t publish a flat delivery rate or a free-delivery zone; what’s free is the delivery quote itself.

How long does it take to get a container delivered to Panorama, BC?

The delivery date is agreed when you order rather than promised in advance. It depends on where your container is coming from, the distance to Panorama, your site, and road and weather conditions. With your quote, Valleyview confirms access, quotes the delivery and gives you a delivery window, so mention any deadline you’re working to when you ask.

Is there a Valleyview container yard in Panorama, BC?

No. Valleyview’s only yard is in Kamloops, at D3-1764 Kelly Douglas Rd, and Valleyview doesn’t operate a depot in Panorama; your container comes from that yard or from a partner depot and is quoted delivered to your address. You don’t need to visit to buy: request a quote by phone, email or the website’s quote form, confirm the order when you accept the quote, and inspect the container when it arrives.

Which containers can I get delivered to Panorama, BC?

All three sizes, 10ft, 20ft and 40ft, can be delivered to Panorama. The catalogue has the new 10ft; new and used 20ft units, new 20ft double-door and side-door units and a 20ft refrigerated container; new 40ft high cubes; and used 40ft containers in standard or high cube height. What’s in Valleyview’s yard now is on the live inventory page, other units can be sourced through partner depots, and availability is confirmed with your quote.

Compare all containers
Can I see a container before it’s delivered to Panorama, BC?

Yes, in a few ways. Each listing on the live inventory page is a unit physically in the Kamloops yard, with a photo when available, its recorded condition and its unit number when legible. For a unit sourced from a partner depot, ask what photos and condition details come with your quote. If you’re passing through Kamloops, call ahead to arrange a look in person, and inspect the container again when it arrives.

See the yard inventory
Is the listed price what I’ll pay for a container in Panorama, BC?

The listed range is a guide to the container itself, and your quote confirms the exact figure. Where a container lands in its range depends on its condition, its colour if it’s new and where it’s sourced, which is why buyers in different towns can see different figures for the same container. Prices are in Canadian dollars plus tax, with delivery quoted separately.

How do I prepare my site for container delivery in Panorama, BC?

A straight, clear approach for the truck and a firm, level spot for the container. For a 20ft, allow 72 feet of total clear length in a straight line, including where the container will sit, plus at least 10 to 12 feet of width and 16 feet of overhead clearance; a 40ft needs more, so ask. Compacted gravel, asphalt or concrete works, ideally with blocks under the corners. Before you book, walk the route in and measure the narrowest gate or gap.

Will the delivery truck fit down my lane or driveway in Panorama, BC?

It depends on whether the truck can back straight in. A tilt-deck can’t turn while the container comes off, so lanes, gates, parked cars, overhead wires and trees along the approach all matter, along with room in front of the doors once it’s down. If your spot doesn’t pass, sort it out before delivery day by clearing the route or choosing another spot, since access problems found on the day can delay a delivery.

What size container is right for a property in Panorama, BC?

Choose a 20ft if space or delivery access is tight, and a 40ft if you need volume. A 20ft gives about 1,170 cubic feet on a footprint roughly the size of a single-car garage; a 40ft gives about 2,390, or about 2,690 as a high cube, but needs more room for the truck. Check the setbacks that apply to your lot before you choose, and mark the footprint with room for the doors to swing.

Is winter container delivery possible in Panorama, BC?

It depends on the roads in and the state of your site on the day. In the East Kootenay and Columbia Valley, snow, ice and road conditions can move a date, and Valleyview’s terms exclude liability for weather delays. Frozen ground can make some sites easier to reach, and remote sites are planned around seasonal access windows. Clear snow from the route and drop spot, and choose a spot that stays firm after the thaw.

What should I do to keep a container in good shape in Panorama, BC?

Plan for temperature swings and winter cold. Keep snow and wet leaves off the roof, keep the vents clear and use desiccants so condensation doesn’t drip on your things. Avoid heating it on and off, which is harder on a container than no heat at all. Before winter, put graphite or a dry silicone lubricant in the lock, and after the spring thaw check that the container is still level.

Do I need a permit for a shipping container in Panorama, BC?

It depends on your property and how you’ll use the container, so ask the local government or other authority responsible for land use at your address before ordering; on First Nation reserve land, that’s the Nation’s own lands, housing or public works process. The answer can change if you modify the container or live or work in it. Ask about the zone, setbacks, lot coverage, any permit or siting plan, and whether ALR, a floodplain or a covenant applies, then get the answer in writing.

Read the permits guide
Can I get a custom container build delivered to Panorama, BC?

Yes. Site offices, workshops, cold storage and other builds are made in Valleyview’s Kamloops yard and delivered to Panorama, BC, like a plain container, with delivery quoted by distance and site access. Every build starts from an inspected, wind and watertight container, and one itemized quote covers the container, each modification and delivery before any steel gets cut. Timing depends on the spec and is confirmed in your quote.

Custom container builds
Is lease-to-own available for containers delivered to Panorama, BC?

Yes. Lease-to-own is offered on 20ft and 40ft containers delivered to Panorama, with the monthly payment, the term and delivery itemized in one up-front quote. The monthly cost depends on the container’s size, condition and your delivery location. Every payment builds toward ownership, and you can ask for a payout figure at any time. Valleyview doesn’t rent containers; lease-to-own is the monthly option.

How lease-to-own works
Where else in the East Kootenay and Columbia Valley do you deliver besides Panorama, BC?

All of the East Kootenay and Columbia Valley, including Cranbrook, Kimberley, Fernie, Sparwood and Elkford. Each delivery is quoted for its own address by distance and site access. If your community isn’t listed on the site, call (778) 694-4050: deliveries also go to off-grid sites, ranches, First Nations communities and end-of-road locations across BC.

How do I get a quote for container delivery to Panorama, BC?

Call (778) 694-4050, email valleyviewcontainers@gmail.com, or use the quote form on the website. Say which size and condition you want, how many, and where it’s going; a postal code is enough to start, and the full address or directions are needed before you order. Photos of the access help. The quote is free, doesn’t commit you to buy, and gives one all-in price for the container and delivery.

Sizes & specs

When does a side-door container make sense?

A side-door container makes sense when you need to reach any point inside without moving everything else. Its doors open along the full length of one wall, which suits tool and parts storage on shelving, workshops that need wide entry, retail, market and pop-up conversions, and awkward loads that will not go in through an end door. Valleyview lists it as a new 20ft and as a new 40ft high cube.

New & used containers

What do the grades “WWT” and “as-is” mean when comparing containers?

They are trade grades below cargo-worthy. WWT is a unit that is still wind and watertight but not certified for ocean shipping, and it usually shows more cosmetic wear. As-is means sold without any weather-tight promise; it may have a pinhole leak, a patched repair or a sticky door, so inspect it in person. Valleyview’s catalogue grades are new and used cargo-worthy, so ask what any other grade term on a quote or listing means.

Prices

How much does a used 40ft shipping container cost?

A used 40ft standard-height container is listed at $3,300–$3,600 plus tax and delivery, and a used 40ft high cube is listed at $3,500–$4,000. Both are cargo-worthy units, inspected and wind and watertight before they’re sold. The standard 40ft holds about 2,390 cubic feet, and the high cube, a foot taller, about 2,690. Delivery is quoted separately, and a 40ft needs more room on the route and at the drop spot than a 20ft.

Buying & paying

Can I buy a shipping container online?

Not through an online checkout. The website lets you request a quote, browse the yard inventory and design a custom build in the Container Studio, but there is no payment step on the site. Valleyview sends you a quote for the container and delivery; when you accept it, Valleyview confirms the order with an invoice or confirmation, and you pay under the terms set out there.

Delivery

Can you deliver a container down a gravel or forest service road?

Yes. Valleyview’s trucks run gravel roads, forest service roads, switchbacks and seasonal access to ranches, cabins, off-grid homesteads and remote work sites. Before a delivery is booked, the route is planned the way it actually drives: approach, turn-around and set-down, with a backup plan where a bridge weight rating is in question. Tell Valleyview about gates, creek crossings and bridge ratings when you ask for a quote.

Can a container be delivered on a steep or sloped driveway?

It depends on the grade, the surface and any tight turns, so describe the driveway when you ask for a quote and send photos or a short video taken from the road. Each route is planned before the truck leaves, including the approach, the turnaround and the set-down, so a steep or soft driveway is a reason to call before delivery day rather than on the day. However steep the approach, the spot where the container lands has to be firm and level.

Preparing your site

Can I set a shipping container directly on dirt or grass?

It can, if the ground is firm and level, but for long-term placement Valleyview recommends a simple foundation. A compacted gravel pad keeps the steel frame out of the mud and lets water drain away, and blocks under the corners lift the frame so air moves underneath, which reduces the risk of rust. If the spot is soft or holds water after rain, choose firmer ground or call Valleyview before delivery day.

Owning a container

What shouldn’t I store in a shipping container?

Don’t put anything away wet, since damp gear adds to condensation, and keep moisture-sensitive items off the floor with the vents clear. For fuel, propane and chemicals, follow the product label and check your local fire and storage rules before keeping them in any closed building. If the container will hold food or feed, or house animals, cover or replace the factory-treated plywood floor first. Perishable food needs a refrigerated container rather than a plain storage unit.

Permits & bylaws

Can a bylaw require screening or a certain colour on a shipping container?

Some can, so ask. A local bylaw or development permit area may ask for fencing or landscape screening, restrict placement in a front yard, or call for a particular or neutral finish instead of faded or weathered paint. If a colour is required, tell Valleyview when you ask for a quote. New 20ft containers can be ordered in a range of factory RAL colours, and Valleyview can repaint a container in a RAL colour at its yard before delivery.

Custom builds

What modifications can you make to a shipping container?

Valleyview’s published modification menu covers a 36-inch steel personnel door with a commercial lockset, sliding windows with screens and security bars, steel or wood stud framing, four insulation types plus undercarriage foam, a basic electrical package and an HVAC pre-wire. Roll-up doors, vents, shelving, partitions, interior finishes, plumbing rough-in and paint are quoted per design. Every build is quoted line by line before any steel gets cut.

Business & lease-to-own

What happens to a container site office when the project ends?

It can move to your next site or stay on as a yard office or storage. Your electrician disconnects the power feed, and the office lifts back onto a tilt-deck truck by its corner castings with the framing, insulation and wiring left in place. Each move is quoted like a delivery, by distance and site access. Check the placement rules with the local government wherever it goes next.

Container site offices

Refrigerated containers

What’s the difference between a reefer and an insulated shipping container?

A reefer controls its temperature; an insulated container without refrigeration only slows heat and cold getting in. A reefer arrives from the factory with several inches of foam in its walls, floor and ceiling and a working refrigeration unit. A standard container can be framed and spray-foamed, but it only becomes cold storage once a refrigeration unit is fitted. Produce or meat that must stay cold needs refrigeration, not just insulation.

Uses

Which container suits business inventory, spare parts or seasonal stock?

A 40ft high cube for bulk volume, or a double-door or side-door unit for stock you reach into often. The high cube holds the most in Valleyview’s lineup, with headroom to stack pallets two high. A 20ft double-door opens at both ends, and side-door units open along the full length of one wall, so any item can be reached without moving the rest. A used unit suits a back lot; a new one suits a spot customers see. Multi-unit orders can match in size, condition and colour.
