Containers for Popkum & Bridal Falls

(778) 694-4050

Serving Popkum and Bridal Falls East of Chilliwack

Popkum sits on the Trans-Canada east of Chilliwack, below Mount Cheam and next to Bridal Veil Falls Provincial Park. Highway travellers stop here, and the attractions, campgrounds and roadside businesses that serve them need secure space for seasonal stock and equipment. Homeowners and acreage owners around Popkum and the Cheam Lake wetlands buy containers for tools, yard gear and workshop space.

Food and tourism businesses can pair a refrigerated unit with dry 20ft or 40ft boxes, standard or high cube, opening at the end or along the side. All are inspected wind and watertight, and quotes are all-in with delivery included. Popkum has its own Highway 1 exit at Bridal Falls, and sites run from roadside commercial lots to rural acreages, so mention slope, gates or overhead lines when you ask.

FAQ

Popkum shipping container FAQ

Straight answers on buying, delivering and setting up a container in Popkum and across the Fraser Valley.

Buying in Popkum

Do you deliver shipping containers to Popkum, BC?

Yes. Valleyview delivers new and used containers to homes, businesses and job sites in Popkum and across the Fraser Valley, most of them set down by a tilt-deck truck that slides the container onto your prepared site. Distance changes the delivery quote rather than whether Popkum is served; what decides whether a particular site works is the route in and the access at the drop spot.

What does it cost to have a container delivered to Popkum?

Delivery to Popkum isn’t part of the listed container price; it’s quoted for the actual site, and Valleyview doesn’t publish a flat rate. The quote reflects the distance from where the container ships (the Kamloops yard or a partner depot) to your address in Popkum, the roads on the way in, and how easily the truck can line up and back in. A level pad and room for the tilt-deck help keep it down, and the delivery quote is free.

How long does it take to get a container delivered to Popkum?

The delivery date is agreed when you order rather than promised in advance. It depends on where your container is coming from, the distance to Popkum, your site, and road and weather conditions. With your quote, Valleyview confirms access, quotes the delivery and gives you a delivery window, so mention any deadline you’re working to when you ask.

Is there a Valleyview container yard in Popkum?

No. Valleyview’s only yard is in Kamloops, at D3-1764 Kelly Douglas Rd, and Valleyview doesn’t operate a depot in Popkum; your container comes from that yard or from a partner depot and is quoted delivered to your address. You don’t need to visit to buy: request a quote by phone, email or the website’s quote form, confirm the order when you accept the quote, and inspect the container when it arrives.

Which containers can I get delivered to Popkum?

Any unit in Valleyview’s catalogue: the new 10ft; new and used 20ft containers, plus new 20ft double-door and side-door units and a 20ft refrigerated container; and 40ft containers, new as high cubes (one with side doors) or used in standard or high cube height. The live inventory page shows units already in Valleyview’s yard, and other units can be sourced through partner depots on request and quoted delivered to Popkum. Availability, especially for the 10ft, is confirmed with your quote.

Can I see a container before it’s delivered to Popkum?

Yes, in a few ways. Each listing on the live inventory page is a unit physically in the Kamloops yard, with a photo when available, its recorded condition and its unit number when legible. For a unit sourced from a partner depot, ask what photos and condition details come with your quote. If you’re passing through Kamloops, call ahead to arrange a look in person, and inspect the container again when it arrives.

See the yard inventory
Is the listed price what I’ll pay for a container in Popkum?

The listed range is a guide to the container itself, and your quote confirms the exact figure. Where a container lands in its range depends on its condition, its colour if it’s new and where it’s sourced, which is why buyers in different towns can see different figures for the same container. Prices are in Canadian dollars plus tax, with delivery quoted separately.

What does my site need for container delivery in Popkum?

Firm, level ground and room for the tilt-deck truck. The spot should be dry and load-bearing, such as compacted gravel, asphalt or concrete, with blocks or railway ties under the corners recommended. For a 20ft, the truck needs 72 feet of straight, clear length including the container’s final spot, 10 to 12 feet of width and 16 feet overhead; a 40ft needs more. Look up along the route in, too: hydro lines, branches and carport roofs all count against that overhead space.

Do you deliver to acreages and off-grid properties near Popkum?

Yes, and they’re quoted like any other delivery, by distance and by what the route and site need. Before booking, the route is planned the way it actually drives, including the approach, the turnaround and the set-down. Send GPS coordinates or a map pin for a site without a street address, describe gates, forks and creek crossings, and add photos of the access road and drop spot.

What size container is right for a property in Popkum?

A 20ft suits household, tool and job-site storage, and a 40ft suits larger loads if the site has room for the truck. A 20ft holds about 1,170 cubic feet on a footprint roughly the size of a single-car garage, while a 40ft holds about 2,390 cubic feet, or about 2,690 as a high cube. A 10ft has half a 20ft’s footprint for tight lots, though supply is limited.

Is winter container delivery possible in Popkum?

It depends on the roads in and the state of your site on the day. In the Fraser Valley, heavy rain can leave a driveway or drop spot too soft for a loaded truck, and weather can move a date; Valleyview’s terms exclude liability for weather delays. A compacted gravel pad that drains well helps, and if the ground is soft or muddy close to delivery day, call before the truck comes.

What should I do to keep a container in good shape in Popkum?

Control condensation, since humidity is the main concern in the Fraser Valley. Keep the built-in vents clear, use desiccants, and never put gear away wet. Set the container on blocks on a well-drained pad so the steel stays out of standing water, keep vegetation off the bottom rail, and wash the outside once a year to remove dirt and any salt.

Do I need a permit for a shipping container in Popkum?

It depends on the property and how you’ll use the container, so check before delivery with the local government or other authority responsible for land use at your address; on First Nation reserve land, that’s the Nation’s own lands, housing or public works process. Valleyview isn’t the permit office and can’t confirm what applies to your lot. Ask about zoning, setbacks, lot coverage and whether a permit or siting plan is needed, and get the answer in writing, noting who you spoke to and when.

Read the permits guide
Can you build a container office or workshop for a site in Popkum?

Yes. Custom builds are done in Valleyview’s own yard in Kamloops, where openings are cut and framing, insulation, electrical rough-in and any paint are added, then the finished container is delivered to Popkum, usually by tilt-deck. You approve one itemized quote covering the container, every modification and delivery before any steel gets cut. You can start from a sketch, photos or a design made in the Container Studio.

Custom container builds
Is lease-to-own available for containers delivered to Popkum?

Yes. Lease-to-own is offered on 20ft and 40ft containers delivered to Popkum, with the monthly payment, the term and delivery itemized in one up-front quote. The monthly cost depends on the container’s size, condition and your delivery location. Every payment builds toward ownership, and you can ask for a payout figure at any time. Valleyview doesn’t rent containers; lease-to-own is the monthly option.

How lease-to-own works
Where else in the Fraser Valley do you deliver besides Popkum?

All of the Fraser Valley, including Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Mission, Hope and Agassiz. Each delivery is quoted for its own address by distance and site access. If your community isn’t listed on the site, call (778) 694-4050: deliveries also go to off-grid sites, ranches, First Nations communities and end-of-road locations across BC.

How do I order a shipping container for delivery to Popkum?

Start with a quote by phone at (778) 694-4050, by email, or through the website’s quote form. Include the container type, your address or postal code, your timeline and any access concerns, plus photos if the route in is tight. Quotes are free and don’t commit you to buy. When you accept, Valleyview confirms the order with an invoice or confirmation, and the delivery date is agreed at that point.

Sizes & specs

Should I buy one 40ft container or two 20ft containers?

One 40ft suits a site with room for it and a need for one large space; two 20ft containers suit tighter or split sites. The 40ft gives about 2,390 cubic feet in one open run, slightly more than two 20ft units at about 2,340, with no wall in the middle and four corners to level instead of eight. Each 20ft needs less delivery room and is easier to move later. Compare delivered quotes for both.

20ft vs 40ft guide

New & used containers

What does “wind and watertight” mean?

It means the shell keeps weather out: no daylight through the walls or roof, and no leaks at the roof, seams or door seals. Valleyview inspects its containers for wind and watertight condition before sale. It does not mean the inside stays dry in every season, because condensation can form on the steel when temperatures swing, even in a container with no leaks. Vents, desiccants or insulation help with that.

Prices

How much does a 20ft double-door container cost?

A new 20ft double-door container, also called a tunnel container, is listed at $4,600–$5,000 plus tax and delivery. It has full cargo doors at both ends, so you can load from either end and reach the back without climbing over stored items. For comparison, a new 20ft with doors at one end only is listed at $3,700–$4,200. Your quote confirms the price along with delivery to your site.

Buying & paying

Do I have to pay in full before the container is delivered?

Usually, yes. Under Valleyview’s terms, full payment is typically required before delivery unless other arrangements have been agreed in writing. Late payments may incur interest charges and can delay delivery, so plan to settle the balance before the delivery date you’ve arranged. If you need a different arrangement, raise it at the quote stage and get it confirmed in writing.

Delivery

Can you deliver a container to a construction or job site?

Yes. A job site needs the same things as any delivery: firm, level ground where the container will sit and a straight, clear approach for the tilt-deck truck, with room overhead. Keep that path free of parked machines, material piles and people on the day, and name a site contact who can meet the driver, confirm placement and sign the delivery receipt. Site requirements are confirmed when you get your quote.

Can a container be delivered on a steep or sloped driveway?

It depends on the grade, the surface and any tight turns, so describe the driveway when you ask for a quote and send photos or a short video taken from the road. Each route is planned before the truck leaves, including the approach, the turnaround and the set-down, so a steep or soft driveway is a reason to call before delivery day rather than on the day. However steep the approach, the spot where the container lands has to be firm and level.

Preparing your site

Does a high cube container need different site prep from a standard container?

No. A high cube has the same footprint and the same four corner bearing points as a standard container of the same length, and it needs the same firm, level, well-drained ground. It is slightly heavier empty, which changes nothing about how you prepare the pad. The difference is height, about a foot more, which matters for overhead clearance on delivery day rather than for the ground it sits on.

Owning a container

How can I tell if my container is actually leaking?

Stand inside with the doors shut and look for pinholes of daylight, especially along the roof and the door seals. On the floor, a dark ring usually marks a leak, while a long dark streak is more likely an old spill. Water with no daylight above it may be condensation instead. If a container you bought from Valleyview has a defect that was not disclosed at the time of sale, contact Valleyview right away to discuss a resolution.

Permits & bylaws

Can I put a container garden suite or ADU on my lot?

Your local zoning bylaw decides first, so check with your municipality or regional district before anything else. Ask which term the bylaw uses, the floor area and height limits, setbacks and separation from the house, servicing, parking, which energy requirements apply, whether engineered drawings are required, and whether ALR, a strata or a covenant affects the lot. A suite is a dwelling, so expect a building permit. Valleyview quotes suites per project once it has your address and a floor plan.

Garden suite guide

Custom builds

Why don’t container homes, garden suites and bunkies have a listed price?

Because each one is designed for its own site, and the engineering and permit-drawing work it needs depends on that site and on what the local government requires. Valleyview quotes these builds per design instead of from the modification menu, and does not publish a starting price for them. To get a price, send the civic address and what the space is for, and the quote follows once the site, services and local requirements are known.

Business & lease-to-own

Can a farm or ranch buy containers on lease-to-own or in bulk?

Yes. A farm or ranch can buy outright, spread the cost across the seasons with lease-to-own on a 20ft or 40ft container, or order several units at once with volume pricing, for example one for each yard or property. A plain container suits feed, seed and tools, and the farm and ranch storage build adds a personnel door and undercarriage insulation. Tell Valleyview about gates, creek crossings and bridge ratings on the way in so delivery can be planned.

Farm and ranch containers

Refrigerated containers

What if my site doesn’t have 3-phase power for a refrigerated container?

Two routes are open: a diesel generator if the site is remote or off the grid, or a converted standard container instead of a reefer. On an off-grid site, an external diesel generator can power a reefer’s refrigeration unit. A conversion is a 20ft or 40ft container insulated and fitted with a bolt-on refrigeration unit specified for the power already on site, including single-phase service, quoted per design. Before deciding, ask your electrician what your current service can support.

Uses

Can a container be used at an off-grid property or remote cabin?

Yes. Off the grid, a container works as lockable storage or a small workshop, and the questions are power, moisture, frost and security. The basic electrical package is roughed in for your electrician to connect to a generator or solar setup. Vents or desiccant control condensation in a unit closed up for long stretches, closed-cell foam under the floor suits frost-heave ground, and a lock box over a puck lock is the usual rural setup. Describe the road in when you ask for a delivery quote.
