Shipping Containers in Port Clements, BC
Containers for a Graham Island Logging Village
Serving Port Clements and Masset Inlet
Port Clements sits at the east end of Masset Inlet near the mouth of the Yakoun River, and logging has long been part of its working life. Forestry contractors use containers as lockable tool and parts rooms in the bush and in the yard, while residents add one for firewood, fishing gear or a workshop. Owners of rural lots along Highway 16 between Tlell and Masset buy them for secure, dry storage.
We supply 20ft and 40ft units in standard and high cube, double-door and side-door for equipment, and refrigerated for fish or food, each inspected and wind and watertight. Off the ferry at Skidegate, the truck follows Highway 16 past Tlell and along the edge of Naikoon Provincial Park to the inlet. It needs firm, clear ground to set down, and container and delivery come as one all-in price.

Port Clements shipping container FAQ
Straight answers on buying, delivering and setting up a container in Port Clements and across the North Coast & Central Coast.
Buying in Port Clements
Can I get a shipping container delivered to Port Clements?
Yes. Valleyview delivers new and used containers to homes, businesses and job sites in Port Clements and across the North Coast and Central Coast region, most of them set down by a tilt-deck truck that slides the container onto your prepared site. Distance changes the delivery quote rather than whether Port Clements is served; what decides whether a particular site works is the route in and the access at the drop spot.
How much does it cost to deliver a container to Port Clements?
It’s quoted for your site by distance and access; Valleyview doesn’t publish a flat delivery rate or a free-delivery zone. The price depends on the distance from where the container ships (the Kamloops yard or a partner depot) to your address in Port Clements, the ferry crossing, the roads on the way in, and how easily the truck can line up and back in. Delivery isn’t included in listed container prices, but the delivery quote itself is free.
How long does it take to get a container delivered to Port Clements?
It’s set when you order, not promised ahead. Timing depends on whether the unit you choose is already in Valleyview’s yard or has to be sourced, plus the distance to Port Clements, access at your site, and the roads and weather. Tell Valleyview about any deadline when you ask for a quote, and the delivery window is confirmed with your order.
Do I have to come to Kamloops to buy a container for delivery to Port Clements?
No. You can request a quote by phone, email or the website’s quote form and confirm the order when you accept it, all without visiting. Valleyview’s only yard is in Kamloops, at D3-1764 Kelly Douglas Rd, and Valleyview doesn’t operate a depot in Port Clements; your container comes from that yard or from a partner depot. When it arrives, you or someone you designate inspects it and signs the delivery receipt, noting any damage at that time.
What container sizes can I buy in Port Clements?
All three sizes, 10ft, 20ft and 40ft, can be delivered to Port Clements. The catalogue has the new 10ft; new and used 20ft units, new 20ft double-door and side-door units and a 20ft refrigerated container; new 40ft high cubes; and used 40ft containers in standard or high cube height. What’s in Valleyview’s yard now is on the live inventory page, other units can be sourced through partner depots, and availability is confirmed with your quote.
Compare all containersHow do I check a container’s condition before it’s delivered to Port Clements?
Ask for the details before you order. Each listing on the live inventory page is a unit in the Kamloops yard, shown with a photo when available, its recorded condition and its unit number when legible, and you can ask about the floor or any other detail before you commit. For a container sourced from a partner depot, ask what photos and condition details come with your quote, and inspect it again when it arrives.
See the yard inventoryIs the listed price what I’ll pay for a container in Port Clements?
The listed range is a guide to the container itself, and your quote confirms the exact figure. Where a container lands in its range depends on its condition, its colour if it’s new and where it’s sourced, which is why buyers in different towns can see different figures for the same container. Prices are in Canadian dollars plus tax, with delivery quoted separately.
How do I prepare my site for container delivery in Port Clements?
Firm, level ground and room for the tilt-deck truck. The spot should be dry and load-bearing, such as compacted gravel, asphalt or concrete, with blocks or railway ties under the corners recommended. For a 20ft, the truck needs 72 feet of straight, clear length including the container’s final spot, 10 to 12 feet of width and 16 feet overhead; a 40ft needs more. Look up along the route in, too: hydro lines, branches and carport roofs all count against that overhead space.
Do you deliver to acreages and off-grid properties near Port Clements?
Yes, and they’re quoted like any other delivery, by distance and by what the route and site need. Before booking, the route is planned the way it actually drives, including the approach, the turnaround and the set-down. Send GPS coordinates or a map pin for a site without a street address, describe gates, forks and creek crossings, and add photos of the access road and drop spot.
Should I get a 20ft or 40ft container for a property in Port Clements?
A 20ft suits household, tool and job-site storage, and a 40ft suits larger loads if the site has room for the truck. A 20ft holds about 1,170 cubic feet on a footprint roughly the size of a single-car garage, while a 40ft holds about 2,390 cubic feet, or about 2,690 as a high cube. A 10ft has half a 20ft’s footprint for tight lots, though supply is limited.
Does winter weather affect container delivery in Port Clements?
It can, through the roads and through the ground. In the North Coast and Central Coast region, snow, ice or heavy rain can affect the roads and soften the ground, and weather can move a date; Valleyview’s terms exclude liability for weather delays. Remote sites are planned around seasonal access windows. Clear snow from the route and drop spot, and call before delivery day if the ground is soft.
How do I look after a shipping container through the seasons in Port Clements?
Plan for both wet weather and cold. Keep the vents clear and use desiccants to control condensation, keep snow and wet leaves off the roof, and set the container on blocks on a well-drained pad so the steel stays out of standing water. Avoid heating it on and off, put graphite or a dry silicone lubricant in the lock before winter, and check the container is still level after the thaw.
What are the rules for placing a shipping container in Port Clements?
It depends on the property and how you’ll use the container, so check before delivery with the local government or other authority responsible for land use at your address; on First Nation reserve land, that’s the Nation’s own lands, housing or public works process. Valleyview isn’t the permit office and can’t confirm what applies to your lot. Ask about zoning, setbacks, lot coverage and whether a permit or siting plan is needed, and get the answer in writing, noting who you spoke to and when.
Read the permits guideCan you build a container office or workshop for a site in Port Clements?
Yes. Site offices, workshops, cold storage and other builds are made in Valleyview’s Kamloops yard and delivered to Port Clements like a plain container, with delivery quoted by distance and site access. Every build starts from an inspected, wind and watertight container, and one itemized quote covers the container, each modification and delivery before any steel gets cut. Timing depends on the spec and is confirmed in your quote.
Custom container buildsIs lease-to-own available for containers delivered to Port Clements?
Yes. Lease-to-own is offered on 20ft and 40ft containers delivered to Port Clements, with the monthly payment, the term and delivery itemized in one up-front quote. The monthly cost depends on the container’s size, condition and your delivery location. Every payment builds toward ownership, and you can ask for a payout figure at any time. Valleyview doesn’t rent containers; lease-to-own is the monthly option.
How lease-to-own worksWhere else in the North Coast and Central Coast region do you deliver besides Port Clements?
All of the North Coast and Central Coast region, including Terrace, Kitimat, Prince Rupert, Port Edward and Stewart. Each delivery is quoted for its own address by distance and site access. If your community isn’t listed on the site, call (778) 694-4050: deliveries also go to off-grid sites, ranches, First Nations communities and end-of-road locations across BC.
How do I order a shipping container for delivery to Port Clements?
Start with a quote by phone at (778) 694-4050, by email, or through the website’s quote form. Include the container type, your address or postal code, your timeline and any access concerns, plus photos if the route in is tight. Quotes are free and don’t commit you to buy. When you accept, Valleyview confirms the order with an invoice or confirmation, and the delivery date is agreed at that point.
Sizes & specs
What size container fits a small or tight job site?
Usually a 20ft, or a 10ft where a 20ft will not fit. A 20ft holds the tools and equipment for a specific job, needs less delivery room than a 40ft and is easier to move to the next site. A 10ft has half the footprint of a 20ft, though supply is limited. A 20ft double-door unit opens at both ends, which helps with job-site staging. A 40ft only makes sense where the truck has room to reach the spot.
New & used containers
What is a shipping container floor made of?
A standard container floor is a deck of marine-grade plywood about 28 mm (1 1/8 inches) thick, screwed to steel cross-members that run side to side about a foot apart. It is traditionally dense tropical hardwood plywood, and newer units increasingly use bamboo or a bamboo-hardwood composite. The deck is treated with insecticide and fungicide at the factory, so for food storage or living space, cover it properly or replace it.
Prices
What does a side-door shipping container cost?
A new 20ft side-door container is listed at $6,600–$9,000 and a new 40ft high cube side-door container at $9,000–$10,000, plus tax and delivery. Side-door units open along the full length of one wall, so you can reach any point inside without moving other things, which suits tool and parts storage, workshops and retail setups. Tell Valleyview which size you need and the quote will price it with delivery to your site.
Buying & paying
Can I get one quote for several containers?
Yes. On the homepage price list you can select more than one container and send them as a single quote request, or list each size, condition and quantity in your message or on the phone. If the units are going to different addresses, give each one, since delivery is quoted by distance and site access. Larger multi-unit orders are handled as fleet orders, with volume pricing and no fixed minimum.
Fleet and bulk ordersDelivery
Does a high cube container need more clearance to deliver?
Overhead, yes. A high cube stands 9 ft 6 in tall against 8 ft 6 in for a standard container, so on a tilt-deck it rides about a foot higher. That loaded height has to clear the tree limbs over your driveway, the hydro service drop to the house, and any gate or carport. The footprint is the same as a standard container of the same length.
High cube vs standardCan a container be delivered on a steep or sloped driveway?
It depends on the grade, the surface and any tight turns, so describe the driveway when you ask for a quote and send photos or a short video taken from the road. Each route is planned before the truck leaves, including the approach, the turnaround and the set-down, so a steep or soft driveway is a reason to call before delivery day rather than on the day. However steep the approach, the spot where the container lands has to be firm and level.
Preparing your site
How much room do I need in front of the container doors?
Enough for both doors to swing fully open, plus room to load and unload. Container doors swing wide, so a spot tucked tight against a fence, wall or bank can leave you unable to open them. Check the door layout of the model you are buying and plan clear, level ground in front. Side-door models open along their length, so they need clear space along that side as well.
Compare container modelsOwning a container
Can I repaint my container a different colour?
Yes. Clean the surface and sand it lightly, then use an exterior metal paint made for steel; the preparation is the step that matters. Treat any rust spots first by wire-brushing off the loose rust, cleaning the area and applying a rust-inhibiting metal paint. If you have not bought yet, a repaint is easier and cheaper in a yard before delivery than on your site, and colour and any paint cost are confirmed in your quote.
Permits & bylaws
Does Valleyview apply for the permit for me?
No. You file the permit application with your local government, and approval is its decision. On custom builds such as offices, bunkies, garden suites and homes, Valleyview coordinates the engineered drawings where they are required and answers the building department’s questions about them. For a home or garden suite, the permit is issued in your name, on your land, and no steel is cut until it is issued.
Custom builds
Can you modify a container I already own?
Often, yes, but ask Valleyview first, because it depends on the work and the container’s condition. If your unit is rough, it is sometimes cheaper to start from a fresh used container than to rehabilitate the old one, and Valleyview will tell you which makes more sense. Send photos of the container and a description of what you want done so the work can be assessed and quoted.
Business & lease-to-own
Can you supply containers for remote resource, forestry or mining sites?
Yes. Valleyview delivers to remote work sites, forest service roads and end-of-road locations across BC, and plans the approach, turnaround and set-down before the truck leaves the yard. Operations can order storage, tool cribs, equipment enclosures and 40ft high cube crew units with matching specs, delivered in stages. Crew housing is an occupied building, so check permit and drawing requirements with whoever has jurisdiction before you order.
Camp housing buildsRefrigerated containers
What if my site doesn’t have 3-phase power for a refrigerated container?
Two routes are open: a diesel generator if the site is remote or off the grid, or a converted standard container instead of a reefer. On an off-grid site, an external diesel generator can power a reefer’s refrigeration unit. A conversion is a 20ft or 40ft container insulated and fitted with a bolt-on refrigeration unit specified for the power already on site, including single-phase service, quoted per design. Before deciding, ask your electrician what your current service can support.
Uses
Can I use a shipping container for storage while I renovate or move?
Yes. A container on your own property holds furniture and boxes through a renovation or a move, and you load and unload on your own schedule. Valleyview sells containers rather than renting them, so afterward it stays yours to keep for storage, move or sell, and lease-to-own is the only monthly-payment option. If it’s only there for the project, ask your local government whether a temporary placement needs approval or has a time limit.
