Shipping Containers in Lund, BC
Containers Delivered to the End of Highway 101
Serving Lund and the Malaspina Peninsula
Lund is a small craft harbour on Tla'amin land where Highway 101 ends, north of Powell River. Named for Lund in Sweden, it is where many kayakers and boaters launch for the Copeland Islands and Desolation Sound, and where water taxis leave for Savary Island. Kayak tour operators keep paddles, life jackets and boats in containers, and Savary Island owners can hold tools and supplies on the mainland side.
Paddling and boating gear stays dry in 20ft and 40ft units, standard height or high-cube, and side-door and refrigerated models are available too. All are checked wind and watertight before loading. A single all-in price takes in the container and the trip up the coast, usually on both Sunshine Coast ferries and through Powell River. Malaspina Peninsula lots run from shoreline to hillside, so describe the approach to yours.

Lund shipping container FAQ
Straight answers on buying, delivering and setting up a container in Lund and across the Sunshine Coast.
Buying in Lund
Do you deliver shipping containers to Lund, BC?
Yes. Valleyview’s delivery area covers all of British Columbia, including Lund, BC, and takes in homes, acreages, businesses, job sites and remote properties. Distance is priced into the delivery quote rather than limiting where containers go, so the questions that matter are whether the truck has a clear way in and room to set the container down.
How much does it cost to deliver a container to Lund, BC?
It’s quoted for your site by distance and access; Valleyview doesn’t publish a flat delivery rate or a free-delivery zone. The price depends on the distance from where the container ships (the Kamloops yard or a partner depot) to your address in Lund, the ferry crossing, the roads on the way in, and how easily the truck can line up and back in. Delivery isn’t included in listed container prices, but the delivery quote itself is free.
How long does it take to get a container delivered to Lund, BC?
It’s set when you order, not promised ahead. Timing depends on whether the unit you choose is already in Valleyview’s yard or has to be sourced, plus the distance to Lund, access at your site, and the roads and weather. Tell Valleyview about any deadline when you ask for a quote, and the delivery window is confirmed with your order.
Is there a Valleyview container yard in Lund, BC?
No. Valleyview’s only yard is in Kamloops, at D3-1764 Kelly Douglas Rd, and Valleyview doesn’t operate a depot in Lund; your container comes from that yard or from a partner depot and is quoted delivered to your address. You don’t need to visit to buy: request a quote by phone, email or the website’s quote form, confirm the order when you accept the quote, and inspect the container when it arrives.
What container sizes can I buy in Lund, BC?
Any unit in Valleyview’s catalogue: the new 10ft; new and used 20ft containers, plus new 20ft double-door and side-door units and a 20ft refrigerated container; and 40ft containers, new as high cubes (one with side doors) or used in standard or high cube height. The live inventory page shows units already in Valleyview’s yard, and other units can be sourced through partner depots on request and quoted delivered to Lund. Availability, especially for the 10ft, is confirmed with your quote.
Compare all containersHow do I check a container’s condition before it’s delivered to Lund, BC?
Ask for the details before you order. Each listing on the live inventory page is a unit in the Kamloops yard, shown with a photo when available, its recorded condition and its unit number when legible, and you can ask about the floor or any other detail before you commit. For a container sourced from a partner depot, ask what photos and condition details come with your quote, and inspect it again when it arrives.
See the yard inventoryDo shipping containers cost more in Lund, BC?
They can, for two reasons. Part of a container’s own price depends on where the unit is sourced, which is one reason listed prices are ranges, and delivery to Lund is quoted separately for your site. Condition and, for new units, colour move the figure too. Your quote confirms the exact numbers, in Canadian dollars plus tax.
What does my site need for container delivery in Lund, BC?
A straight, clear approach for the truck and a firm, level spot for the container. For a 20ft, allow 72 feet of total clear length in a straight line, including where the container will sit, plus at least 10 to 12 feet of width and 16 feet of overhead clearance; a 40ft needs more, so ask. Compacted gravel, asphalt or concrete works, ideally with blocks under the corners. Before you book, walk the route in and measure the narrowest gate or gap.
Do you deliver to acreages and off-grid properties near Lund, BC?
Yes. The service area takes in rural, remote and off-grid sites around Lund, BC. Valleyview’s trucks run gravel roads, forest service roads and seasonal access, and each route is planned before the truck leaves: approach, turnaround and set-down, with a backup plan where a bridge weight rating is in question. Describe gates, creek crossings and the last stretch in, and send GPS coordinates or a map pin if the site has no street address.
Should I get a 20ft or 40ft container for a property in Lund, BC?
A 20ft suits household, tool and job-site storage, and a 40ft suits larger loads if the site has room for the truck. A 20ft holds about 1,170 cubic feet on a footprint roughly the size of a single-car garage, while a 40ft holds about 2,390 cubic feet, or about 2,690 as a high cube. A 10ft has half a 20ft’s footprint for tight lots, though supply is limited.
Does wet weather affect container delivery in Lund, BC?
It can, mostly through the ground. On the Sunshine Coast, heavy rain can leave a driveway or drop spot too soft for a loaded truck, and weather can move a date; Valleyview’s terms exclude liability for weather delays. A compacted gravel pad that drains well helps, and if the ground is soft or muddy close to delivery day, call before the truck comes.
How do I keep a shipping container dry inside in Lund, BC?
Control condensation, since humidity is the main concern on the Sunshine Coast. Keep the built-in vents clear, use desiccants, and never put gear away wet. Set the container on blocks on a well-drained pad so the steel stays out of standing water, keep vegetation off the bottom rail, and wash the outside once a year to remove dirt and any salt.
What are the rules for placing a shipping container in Lund, BC?
It depends on the property and how you’ll use the container, so check before delivery with the local government or other authority responsible for land use at your address; on First Nation reserve land, that’s the Nation’s own lands, housing or public works process. Valleyview isn’t the permit office and can’t confirm what applies to your lot. Ask about zoning, setbacks, lot coverage and whether a permit or siting plan is needed, and get the answer in writing, noting who you spoke to and when.
Read the permits guideCan you build a container office or workshop for a site in Lund, BC?
Yes. Custom builds are done in Valleyview’s own yard in Kamloops, where openings are cut and framing, insulation, electrical rough-in and any paint are added, then the finished container is delivered to Lund, usually by tilt-deck. You approve one itemized quote covering the container, every modification and delivery before any steel gets cut. You can start from a sketch, photos or a design made in the Container Studio.
Custom container buildsIs lease-to-own available for containers delivered to Lund, BC?
Yes. Lease-to-own is offered on 20ft and 40ft containers delivered to Lund, with the monthly payment, the term and delivery itemized in one up-front quote. The monthly cost depends on the container’s size, condition and your delivery location. Every payment builds toward ownership, and you can ask for a payout figure at any time. Valleyview doesn’t rent containers; lease-to-own is the monthly option.
How lease-to-own worksWhere else on the Sunshine Coast do you deliver besides Lund, BC?
All of the Sunshine Coast, including Gibsons, Sechelt, Powell River, Roberts Creek and Halfmoon Bay. Each delivery is quoted for its own address by distance and site access. If your community isn’t listed on the site, call (778) 694-4050: deliveries also go to off-grid sites, ranches, First Nations communities and end-of-road locations across BC.
How do I order a shipping container for delivery to Lund, BC?
Start with a quote by phone at (778) 694-4050, by email, or through the website’s quote form. Include the container type, your address or postal code, your timeline and any access concerns, plus photos if the route in is tight. Quotes are free and don’t commit you to buy. When you accept, Valleyview confirms the order with an invoice or confirmation, and the delivery date is agreed at that point.
Sizes & specs
What size container works for tractors and farm equipment?
For tractors and other tall machinery, look at a 40ft high cube first, because the door opening decides what drives in: about 8ft 5in on a high cube against about 7ft 5in on a standard container. Measure the tallest point and add six inches, and check the width, including mirrors and any loader, against the interior width of about 7ft 8in. For feed, tools and parts, the catalogue lists used 20ft and 40ft standard containers for farm and acreage storage.
New & used containers
What should the floor of a used container look like?
Solid underfoot, with no soft, swollen, sagging or rotted boards. Light surface staining is normal on a used deck; walk the full length, bounce on it, and look for dark rings that point to a past leak. Note any chemical or pesticide smell, which can rule a unit out for food, residential or sensitive storage. Valleyview will describe the floor of a container on its list before you commit.
Container flooring guidePrices
Does a 40ft container cost twice as much as a 20ft?
Not at Valleyview’s current listed prices: a 40ft is listed at less than twice the price of a 20ft in the same condition. A used 40ft is listed at $3,300–$3,600 against $2,500–$3,000 for a used 20ft, and holds about 2,390 cubic feet to the 20ft’s 1,170. A new one-trip 40ft high cube is listed at $6,200–$7,100 against $3,700–$4,200 for a new one-trip 20ft. All prices are plus tax and delivery, and a 40ft needs more room to deliver and place, so check that your site can take one.
Buying & paying
Are GST and PST included in your container prices?
No. Listed container prices are in Canadian dollars plus tax and delivery, and applicable GST and PST are added to your quote and invoice. Ask for the total including tax when you get your quote so you know the full amount before you pay. How a container purchase is treated for your business or personal taxes is a question for your accountant.
Delivery
What should I do before the delivery truck arrives?
Walk the route from the road to the drop spot and clear it. Confirm gate width and overhead space, move parked vehicles, mark utility lines, and clear the drop area of debris, vehicles and other obstructions. Make sure the spot itself is firm, dry and level. On the day, keep children, pets and everyone else back while the operator works.
Read the delivery guideIs a 40ft container harder to deliver than a 20ft?
It needs more room. Valleyview’s published delivery clearances are for a 20ft container, and a 40ft needs more, so ask for the figures for your site when you book. A 20ft is easier and cheaper to move, which matters on tight lots and narrow driveways. Both need a straight, clear path for the truck, open overhead space and firm, level ground where the container lands.
Compare 20ft and 40ftPreparing your site
Is it a good idea to put a container under trees?
An open spot is easier to look after. Overhanging trees drop wet leaves and debris that sit on the roof and trap moisture against the steel, a common cause of corrosion, so a container under trees needs its roof cleared more often. Low limbs also matter on delivery day: the truck needs 16 feet of clear height, free of branches and power lines, so trim them or choose another spot before you book.
Owning a container
Can I repaint my container a different colour?
Yes. Clean the surface and sand it lightly, then use an exterior metal paint made for steel; the preparation is the step that matters. Treat any rust spots first by wire-brushing off the loose rust, cleaning the area and applying a rust-inhibiting metal paint. If you have not bought yet, a repaint is easier and cheaper in a yard before delivery than on your site, and colour and any paint cost are confirmed in your quote.
Permits & bylaws
Do I need a building permit to live or work in a shipping container?
Plan on it, and confirm with your local government before you order. A container people live or work in is no longer storage, and it may be treated as a building. Expect a review like any small building’s: a building permit, stamped drawings, foundation and anchoring details, electrical and plumbing permits, and a final inspection against the building code that applies at your address. Whoever has jurisdiction over the land sets the exact list.
Custom builds
Can I choose where the door and windows go on my container?
Yes. You decide which wall each opening lands on before anything is cut, for example the door toward the site and the windows toward the yard. In the Container Studio you can drag a personnel door and up to two sliding windows (one on a 10ft) along either long wall. Each position is written into your build summary, and fitment is confirmed in your written quote. Roll-up doors are not in the studio and are quoted per design.
Business & lease-to-own
Is lease-to-own only for businesses?
No. Valleyview’s lease-to-own page names trades and contractors, farms and rural properties, new and growing businesses, and homeowners and acreage owners. It’s aimed at buyers who need the container on site now but would rather spread the cost into monthly payments; approval and terms are confirmed with your quote.
Refrigerated containers
Who connects the power when a reefer is delivered?
Your electrician does. Valleyview sets the reefer down by tilt-deck on your pad, and a qualified electrician installs the proper outlet and wiring and makes the final connection. Line up the electrician before delivery day so the outlet is ready where the unit will sit. Once the unit is running, let it bring the box down to your set temperature before you load anything.
Uses
Can I use a shipping container for storage while I renovate or move?
Yes. A container on your own property holds furniture and boxes through a renovation or a move, and you load and unload on your own schedule. Valleyview sells containers rather than renting them, so afterward it stays yours to keep for storage, move or sell, and lease-to-own is the only monthly-payment option. If it’s only there for the project, ask your local government whether a temporary placement needs approval or has a time limit.
