Containers Delivered to Silver Star Mountain

(778) 694-4050

Serving Silver Star and the Hills Above Vernon

Silver Star is a resort village high on Silver Star Mountain, northeast of Vernon, with Silver Star Provincial Park and the Nordic trails at Sovereign Lake beside it. The lifts carry mountain bikers and hikers in summer as well as skiers in winter, so homeowners trade one season's gear for the other. A container holds whatever is off duty: bikes and patio furniture through winter, skis and snowshoes through summer.

Valleyview brings containers from Kamloops through Vernon and up the resort road. Sizes are 20ft and 40ft, standard height or high cube, with doors at both ends or along one side. We inspect every unit wind and watertight before it ships, and the drive up is built into the price. Mountain lots can be steep and snowbound, so we check the grade and the set-down spot before booking.

FAQ

Silver Star shipping container FAQ

Straight answers on buying, delivering and setting up a container in Silver Star and across the Okanagan & Shuswap.

Buying in Silver Star

Does Valleyview Containers deliver to Silver Star, BC?

Yes. Valleyview delivers new and used containers to homes, businesses and job sites in Silver Star and across the Okanagan and Shuswap, most of them set down by a tilt-deck truck that slides the container onto your prepared site. Distance changes the delivery quote rather than whether Silver Star, BC, is served; what decides whether a particular site works is the route in and the access at the drop spot.

What does it cost to have a container delivered to Silver Star, BC?

Delivery to Silver Star isn’t part of the listed container price; it’s quoted for the actual site, and Valleyview doesn’t publish a flat rate. The quote reflects the distance from where the container ships (the Kamloops yard or a partner depot) to your address in Silver Star, the roads on the way in, and how easily the truck can line up and back in. A level pad and room for the tilt-deck help keep it down, and the delivery quote is free.

How long does it take to get a container delivered to Silver Star, BC?

It’s set when you order, not promised ahead. Timing depends on whether the unit you choose is already in Valleyview’s yard or has to be sourced, plus the distance to Silver Star, access at your site, and the roads and weather. Tell Valleyview about any deadline when you ask for a quote, and the delivery window is confirmed with your order.

Do I have to come to Kamloops to buy a container for delivery to Silver Star, BC?

No. You can request a quote by phone, email or the website’s quote form and confirm the order when you accept it, all without visiting. Valleyview’s only yard is in Kamloops, at D3-1764 Kelly Douglas Rd, and Valleyview doesn’t operate a depot in Silver Star; your container comes from that yard or from a partner depot. When it arrives, you or someone you designate inspects it and signs the delivery receipt, noting any damage at that time.

Which containers can I get delivered to Silver Star, BC?

All three sizes, 10ft, 20ft and 40ft, can be delivered to Silver Star. The catalogue has the new 10ft; new and used 20ft units, new 20ft double-door and side-door units and a 20ft refrigerated container; new 40ft high cubes; and used 40ft containers in standard or high cube height. What’s in Valleyview’s yard now is on the live inventory page, other units can be sourced through partner depots, and availability is confirmed with your quote.

How do I check a container’s condition before it’s delivered to Silver Star, BC?

Ask for the details before you order. Each listing on the live inventory page is a unit in the Kamloops yard, shown with a photo when available, its recorded condition and its unit number when legible, and you can ask about the floor or any other detail before you commit. For a container sourced from a partner depot, ask what photos and condition details come with your quote, and inspect it again when it arrives.

See the yard inventory
Do shipping containers cost more in Silver Star, BC?

They can, for two reasons. Part of a container’s own price depends on where the unit is sourced, which is one reason listed prices are ranges, and delivery to Silver Star is quoted separately for your site. Condition and, for new units, colour move the figure too. Your quote confirms the exact numbers, in Canadian dollars plus tax.

How do I prepare my site for container delivery in Silver Star, BC?

A straight, clear approach for the truck and a firm, level spot for the container. For a 20ft, allow 72 feet of total clear length in a straight line, including where the container will sit, plus at least 10 to 12 feet of width and 16 feet of overhead clearance; a 40ft needs more, so ask. Compacted gravel, asphalt or concrete works, ideally with blocks under the corners. Before you book, walk the route in and measure the narrowest gate or gap.

Can you deliver a container to a tight lot in Silver Star, BC?

It depends on whether the truck can back straight in. A tilt-deck can’t turn while the container comes off, so lanes, gates, parked cars, overhead wires and trees along the approach all matter, along with room in front of the doors once it’s down. If your spot doesn’t pass, sort it out before delivery day by clearing the route or choosing another spot, since access problems found on the day can delay a delivery.

Should I get a 20ft or 40ft container for a property in Silver Star, BC?

Choose a 20ft if space or delivery access is tight, and a 40ft if you need volume. A 20ft gives about 1,170 cubic feet on a footprint roughly the size of a single-car garage; a 40ft gives about 2,390, or about 2,690 as a high cube, but needs more room for the truck. Check the setbacks that apply to your lot before you choose, and mark the footprint with room for the doors to swing.

Do snow and frozen ground affect container delivery in Silver Star, BC?

They can, in both directions. In the Okanagan and Shuswap, snow, ice and road conditions can move a date, and Valleyview’s terms exclude liability for weather delays. Frozen ground can make some sites easier to reach, and remote sites are planned around seasonal access windows. Clear snow from the route and drop spot, and choose a spot that stays firm after the thaw.

What should I do to keep a container in good shape in Silver Star, BC?

Plan for temperature swings and winter cold. Keep snow and wet leaves off the roof, keep the vents clear and use desiccants so condensation doesn’t drip on your things. Avoid heating it on and off, which is harder on a container than no heat at all. Before winter, put graphite or a dry silicone lubricant in the lock, and after the spring thaw check that the container is still level.

Do I need a permit for a shipping container in Silver Star, BC?

It depends on the property and how you’ll use the container, so check before delivery with the local government or other authority responsible for land use at your address; on First Nation reserve land, that’s the Nation’s own lands, housing or public works process. Valleyview isn’t the permit office and can’t confirm what applies to your lot. Ask about zoning, setbacks, lot coverage and whether a permit or siting plan is needed, and get the answer in writing, noting who you spoke to and when.

Read the permits guide
Can I get a custom container build delivered to Silver Star, BC?

Yes. Site offices, workshops, cold storage and other builds are made in Valleyview’s Kamloops yard and delivered to Silver Star, BC, like a plain container, with delivery quoted by distance and site access. Every build starts from an inspected, wind and watertight container, and one itemized quote covers the container, each modification and delivery before any steel gets cut. Timing depends on the spec and is confirmed in your quote.

Custom container builds
Is lease-to-own available for containers delivered to Silver Star, BC?

Yes. Lease-to-own is offered on 20ft and 40ft containers delivered to Silver Star, with the monthly payment, the term and delivery itemized in one up-front quote. The monthly cost depends on the container’s size, condition and your delivery location. Every payment builds toward ownership, and you can ask for a payout figure at any time. Valleyview doesn’t rent containers; lease-to-own is the monthly option.

How lease-to-own works
Where else in the Okanagan and Shuswap do you deliver besides Silver Star, BC?

All of the Okanagan and Shuswap, including Kelowna, West Kelowna, Penticton, Vernon and Summerland. Each delivery is quoted for its own address by distance and site access. If your community isn’t listed on the site, call (778) 694-4050: deliveries also go to off-grid sites, ranches, First Nations communities and end-of-road locations across BC.

How do I get a quote for container delivery to Silver Star, BC?

Call (778) 694-4050, email valleyviewcontainers@gmail.com, or use the quote form on the website. Say which size and condition you want, how many, and where it’s going; a postal code is enough to start, and the full address or directions are needed before you order. Photos of the access help. The quote is free, doesn’t commit you to buy, and gives one all-in price for the container and delivery.

Sizes & specs

How big is a 10ft shipping container and what fits in it?

A 10ft container is 10ft long, 8ft wide and 8ft 6in tall outside, about half the footprint of a 20ft, with roughly 560 cubic feet inside. That holds about the contents of a one-bedroom apartment, a motorcycle plus gear, or a contractor’s tools and materials, and suits tight lots and small job sites. Valleyview’s catalogue lists the 10ft as a new container only, and supply is limited, so availability is confirmed with your quote.

New & used containers

Should I buy a new or used container for storage?

For most storage, a used cargo-worthy container makes sense: it is inspected, wind and watertight and costs less than new, and cosmetic wear doesn’t affect what you keep inside. A useful rule is to buy the lowest grade that still keeps your contents dry. Choose new when looks matter, such as a customer-facing business or a branded unit, or when you want minimal rust from the start.

Prices

How much is a used 20ft shipping container?

A used 20ft container is listed at $2,500–$3,000 plus tax and delivery. It’s a cargo-worthy unit: it has been in shipping service, so expect surface rust and dents, but it’s inspected and wind and watertight before it leaves the yard. It gives about 1,170 cubic feet of lockable space for storage where looks don’t matter. Where a unit falls in the range depends on its condition and where it’s sourced.

Buying & paying

What does a container quote from Valleyview include?

A quote prices the container and delivery to your address together, so you see the all-in price for both before you commit, with applicable GST and PST added. The delivery portion depends on distance and site access, which is why it’s quoted for your specific site rather than listed. If you add doors, windows, insulation or other modifications, each one is itemized line by line on the same quote, so you can see what every part of the job costs.

Delivery

Is there a video that shows how container delivery works?

Yes. Valleyview’s 30-second illustrated delivery guide shows the pickup and 22-foot deckover tilt trailer used for a 20ft container, the 72 feet of total clear length it needs, checking gates and overhead space, why the path must be straight, and when to call ahead. It has captions and a full transcript. The clearances shown are for a 20ft; a 40ft needs more room.

Watch the delivery guide
Can I pick up a container from the yard myself?

Ask first, because customer pickup isn’t a published option. Valleyview delivers by tilt-deck truck, so call (778) 694-4050 to ask whether collecting the unit you want is possible and what loading it would involve. If delivery suits you better, the delivery quote is free and is priced to the site the container is actually going to.

Preparing your site

What if my ground is soft or muddy around delivery time?

Call Valleyview before delivery day. The drop spot and the path to it need to be firm and load-bearing, for the truck and for the container, and soft or muddy ground may need firming up or a gravel pad before the drop can go ahead. Delivery dates are agreed when you order, and weather or site-access problems can delay a delivery.

Owning a container

How should I lock a shipping container to deter theft?

Put a hardened puck lock inside a welded steel lock box, and avoid an open-shackle padlock on a bare hasp, which is easy to cut or pry. A thief goes after the padlock, not the steel walls. Placement helps too: point the doors at the house, shop or site trailer rather than a road or treeline, and back the container against a bank, fence or building to remove approach angles. For tools and machinery, add a crossbar on the locking bars.

Permits & bylaws

Can a bylaw require screening or a certain colour on a shipping container?

Some can, so ask. A local bylaw or development permit area may ask for fencing or landscape screening, restrict placement in a front yard, or call for a particular or neutral finish instead of faded or weathered paint. If a colour is required, tell Valleyview when you ask for a quote. New 20ft containers can be ordered in a range of factory RAL colours, and Valleyview can repaint a container in a RAL colour at its yard before delivery.

Custom builds

What insulation options are there for a shipping container?

Valleyview’s menu has four: rigid foam board, closed-cell spray foam, rock wool and fibreglass batts, plus closed-cell foam sprayed under the floor for cold and frost-heave sites. Rigid foam is marked as the default for offices and workshops, and closed-cell spray foam is the recommendation for space occupied year-round in the North, with the highest R-value on the menu and a full air seal. Rock wool is fire-resistant and dampens sound. Fibreglass batts are fitted only on request.

Business & lease-to-own

How is a fleet or bulk container order priced?

Per unit, with pricing that improves as the quantity goes up and no fixed minimum to qualify. Tell Valleyview how many containers you need, the sizes and condition, and where each one is going, and the quote shows the per-unit price for that order size, with delivery itemized line by line. Branding, paint or modifications for the whole order can be quoted on the same document.

Bulk container sales

Refrigerated containers

Can you add shelving, a man door or temperature monitoring to a reefer?

Yes, as quoted extras. The 20ft refrigerated cold storage package lists shelving and racking, a secondary man door and temperature monitoring, each quoted per design. A man door on a reefer is priced individually because it is cut through an insulated, stainless-lined wall. Shelving, racking and monitoring are fitted before delivery and laid out around what you store, such as kegs, totes, cases or flats.

Uses

Can a shipping container be used as a site office?

Yes. A site office needs insulation, a lockable personnel door, window positions settled before any steel is cut, and power roughed in for your electrician to connect to a construction service, a generator or a permanent drop. A used 20ft base suits an office that moves between jobs; a new one-trip base suits a permanent office customers see. Valleyview’s insulated site office package covers the shell, and finished walls, heat and furniture are quoted per design. People work inside, so confirm permit requirements with your local government first.
