Shipping Containers in Anmore, BC
Containers for Anmore's Semi-Rural Lots
Serving Anmore and the Road to Buntzen Lake
Valleyview Containers delivers new and used shipping containers to Anmore, the semi-rural village north of Port Moody where many homes sit on large lots. That room suits a container, and owners here buy them for tools and property equipment, a workshop, or a dry place to stage materials during a build. The village runs north to the entrance of Buntzen Lake, the recreation area managed by BC Hydro.
Alongside double-door and side-door units, we sell standard and high-cube 20ft and 40ft containers, plus custom builds such as an insulated workshop. All are checked wind and watertight, and a single quoted price includes delivery. Anmore is reached by road through Port Moody, and on larger properties the driveway, any overhanging branches or wires, and a level landing spot are the things to look at.

Anmore shipping container FAQ
Straight answers on buying, delivering and setting up a container in Anmore and across the Metro Vancouver.
Buying in Anmore
Does Valleyview Containers deliver to Anmore?
Yes. Valleyview’s delivery area covers all of British Columbia, including Anmore, and takes in homes, acreages, businesses, job sites and remote properties. Distance is priced into the delivery quote rather than limiting where containers go, so the questions that matter are whether the truck has a clear way in and room to set the container down.
Do listed container prices include delivery to Anmore?
No. Listed container prices are in Canadian dollars plus tax and delivery, and delivery to Anmore is quoted separately. Each site is quoted on its own: the distance from where the container ships (the Kamloops yard or a partner depot) to your address in Anmore, the roads on the way in, and how easily the truck can line up and back in all count. Valleyview doesn’t publish a flat delivery rate or a free-delivery zone; what’s free is the delivery quote itself.
How soon can I get a container delivered to Anmore?
It’s set when you order, not promised ahead. Timing depends on whether the unit you choose is already in Valleyview’s yard or has to be sourced, plus the distance to Anmore, access at your site, and the roads and weather. Tell Valleyview about any deadline when you ask for a quote, and the delivery window is confirmed with your order.
Do I have to come to Kamloops to buy a container for delivery to Anmore?
No. You can request a quote by phone, email or the website’s quote form and confirm the order when you accept it, all without visiting. Valleyview’s only yard is in Kamloops, at D3-1764 Kelly Douglas Rd, and Valleyview doesn’t operate a depot in Anmore; your container comes from that yard or from a partner depot. When it arrives, you or someone you designate inspects it and signs the delivery receipt, noting any damage at that time.
What container sizes can I buy in Anmore?
Any unit in Valleyview’s catalogue: the new 10ft; new and used 20ft containers, plus new 20ft double-door and side-door units and a 20ft refrigerated container; and 40ft containers, new as high cubes (one with side doors) or used in standard or high cube height. The live inventory page shows units already in Valleyview’s yard, and other units can be sourced through partner depots on request and quoted delivered to Anmore. Availability, especially for the 10ft, is confirmed with your quote.
Compare all containersCan I see a container before it’s delivered to Anmore?
Yes, in a few ways. Each listing on the live inventory page is a unit physically in the Kamloops yard, with a photo when available, its recorded condition and its unit number when legible. For a unit sourced from a partner depot, ask what photos and condition details come with your quote. If you’re passing through Kamloops, call ahead to arrange a look in person, and inspect the container again when it arrives.
See the yard inventoryDo shipping containers cost more in Anmore?
They can, for two reasons. Part of a container’s own price depends on where the unit is sourced, which is one reason listed prices are ranges, and delivery to Anmore is quoted separately for your site. Condition and, for new units, colour move the figure too. Your quote confirms the exact numbers, in Canadian dollars plus tax.
What does my site need for container delivery in Anmore?
Firm, level ground and room for the tilt-deck truck. The spot should be dry and load-bearing, such as compacted gravel, asphalt or concrete, with blocks or railway ties under the corners recommended. For a 20ft, the truck needs 72 feet of straight, clear length including the container’s final spot, 10 to 12 feet of width and 16 feet overhead; a 40ft needs more. Look up along the route in, too: hydro lines, branches and carport roofs all count against that overhead space.
Can you deliver to rural or hard-to-reach sites around Anmore?
Yes, and they’re quoted like any other delivery, by distance and by what the route and site need. Before booking, the route is planned the way it actually drives, including the approach, the turnaround and the set-down. Send GPS coordinates or a map pin for a site without a street address, describe gates, forks and creek crossings, and add photos of the access road and drop spot.
What size container is right for a property in Anmore?
Choose a 20ft if space or delivery access is tight, and a 40ft if you need volume. A 20ft gives about 1,170 cubic feet on a footprint roughly the size of a single-car garage; a 40ft gives about 2,390, or about 2,690 as a high cube, but needs more room for the truck. Check the setbacks that apply to your lot before you choose, and mark the footprint with room for the doors to swing.
Does wet weather affect container delivery in Anmore?
It can, mostly through the ground. In Metro Vancouver, heavy rain can leave a driveway or drop spot too soft for a loaded truck, and weather can move a date; Valleyview’s terms exclude liability for weather delays. A compacted gravel pad that drains well helps, and if the ground is soft or muddy close to delivery day, call before the truck comes.
How do I keep a shipping container dry inside in Anmore?
Control condensation, since humidity is the main concern in Metro Vancouver. Keep the built-in vents clear, use desiccants, and never put gear away wet. Set the container on blocks on a well-drained pad so the steel stays out of standing water, keep vegetation off the bottom rail, and wash the outside once a year to remove dirt and any salt.
Do I need a permit for a shipping container in Anmore?
It depends on your property and how you’ll use the container, so ask the local government or other authority responsible for land use at your address before ordering; on First Nation reserve land, that’s the Nation’s own lands, housing or public works process. The answer can change if you modify the container or live or work in it. Ask about the zone, setbacks, lot coverage, any permit or siting plan, and whether ALR, a floodplain or a covenant applies, then get the answer in writing.
Read the permits guideCan I get a custom container build delivered to Anmore?
Yes. Custom builds are done in Valleyview’s own yard in Kamloops, where openings are cut and framing, insulation, electrical rough-in and any paint are added, then the finished container is delivered to Anmore, usually by tilt-deck. You approve one itemized quote covering the container, every modification and delivery before any steel gets cut. You can start from a sketch, photos or a design made in the Container Studio.
Custom container buildsCan I pay monthly for a shipping container in Anmore?
Yes, through lease-to-own, the only financing Valleyview offers. You get one up-front quote for a 20ft or 40ft container that itemizes the monthly payment, the term and delivery to Anmore. Every payment builds toward ownership, you can pay out the balance early whenever you like, and at the end of the term the container is yours. The monthly cost depends on the container’s size, condition and your delivery location. Valleyview doesn’t rent containers, so lease-to-own is the monthly option.
How lease-to-own worksWhere else in Metro Vancouver do you deliver besides Anmore?
All of Metro Vancouver, including Vancouver, Surrey, Burnaby, Richmond and Coquitlam. Each delivery is quoted for its own address by distance and site access. If your community isn’t listed on the site, call (778) 694-4050: deliveries also go to off-grid sites, ranches, First Nations communities and end-of-road locations across BC.
How do I get a quote for container delivery to Anmore?
Call (778) 694-4050, email valleyviewcontainers@gmail.com, or use the quote form on the website. Say which size and condition you want, how many, and where it’s going; a postal code is enough to start, and the full address or directions are needed before you order. Photos of the access help. The quote is free, doesn’t commit you to buy, and gives one all-in price for the container and delivery.
Sizes & specs
Are new 40ft containers standard height or high cube?
In Valleyview’s catalogue, every new 40ft container is a high cube, 9ft 6in tall, including the 40ft high cube with side doors. A standard-height 40ft at 8ft 6in is listed as a used, cargo-worthy unit, and a used 40ft high cube is listed as well. All four share the same 40ft by 8ft footprint, so the choice comes down to headroom, condition and budget.
New & used containers
What’s the difference between a new and a used shipping container?
A new one-trip container has made a single loaded voyage from the factory, so it arrives with straight walls, intact factory paint, tight door seals and an unstained floor. A used container has been in shipping service and shows it, with surface rust, dents and faded paint. Valleyview’s catalogue lists its used units as cargo-worthy, and containers are inspected before sale. New costs more; used suits storage where cosmetic wear doesn’t matter.
Prices
How much is a used 20ft shipping container?
A used 20ft container is listed at $2,500–$3,000 plus tax and delivery. It’s a cargo-worthy unit: it has been in shipping service, so expect surface rust and dents, but it’s inspected and wind and watertight before it leaves the yard. It gives about 1,170 cubic feet of lockable space for storage where looks don’t matter. Where a unit falls in the range depends on its condition and where it’s sourced.
Buying & paying
Can I cancel a container order or return a container?
If you cancel an order before delivery, cancellation fees may apply. Containers are generally not returnable once delivered, and any return has to be approved in advance and may carry restocking fees and transportation costs. Confirm your size, site access and any local government requirements before you order. If a container arrives with a defect that wasn’t disclosed at the time of sale, contact Valleyview right away to discuss a resolution.
Delivery
Does a high cube container need more clearance to deliver?
Overhead, yes. A high cube stands 9 ft 6 in tall against 8 ft 6 in for a standard container, so on a tilt-deck it rides about a foot higher. That loaded height has to clear the tree limbs over your driveway, the hydro service drop to the house, and any gate or carport. The footprint is the same as a standard container of the same length.
High cube vs standardWhat should I check when my container arrives?
Check the doors, the floor and the overall condition before you sign. Make sure both doors swing and lock cleanly, look for soft spots in the floor, and stand inside with the doors shut to look for pinholes of daylight along the roof and door seals. Under Valleyview’s terms, any damage or discrepancy has to be noted on the delivery receipt at the time of delivery.
Preparing your site
How level does the ground need to be for a shipping container?
As level as you can make it, end to end and side to side. The practical test is the doors: both should swing open, close and seal without forcing. A container on uneven ground twists, which makes the doors hard to open and close, and doors that do not seat properly cannot lock properly. Get the pad level, and any blocks level with each other, before delivery day, while nothing is sitting on them.
Owning a container
Can I get a lock box welded on when I buy a container?
You can ask for one when you request your quote. A lock box is a heavy steel shroud welded over the hasp so the padlock sits in a pocket of steel, out of reach of bolt cutters. Some containers already have one, so ask whether the unit you are buying does. If it doesn’t, Valleyview can quote welding one on as part of its modification work. For a container you already own, ask whether it can be done.
Permits & bylaws
Can I put a container garden suite or ADU on my lot?
Your local zoning bylaw decides first, so check with your municipality or regional district before anything else. Ask which term the bylaw uses, the floor area and height limits, setbacks and separation from the house, servicing, parking, which energy requirements apply, whether engineered drawings are required, and whether ALR, a strata or a covenant affects the lot. A suite is a dwelling, so expect a building permit. Valleyview quotes suites per project once it has your address and a floor plan.
Garden suite guideCustom builds
What does a custom build’s published starting price include?
The catalogue price of the base container plus each modification listed on that package at its published menu rate, in Canadian dollars before tax and delivery. Anything a package lists as quoted per design, such as heat, finished walls or shelving, is not in that figure. You can add or swap modifications, and each change is priced line by line from the same menu the yard quotes and invoices from.
Packages and price menuBusiness & lease-to-own
Can my business write off a container or lease-to-own payments?
That’s a question for your accountant. Valleyview doesn’t give tax or accounting advice and can’t say how a container purchase or lease-to-own payments will be treated for your business. What Valleyview can provide is an itemized quote and a formal invoice showing the container, any modifications, delivery and tax, which you can give to your accountant.
Refrigerated containers
What if my site doesn’t have 3-phase power for a refrigerated container?
Two routes are open: a diesel generator if the site is remote or off the grid, or a converted standard container instead of a reefer. On an off-grid site, an external diesel generator can power a reefer’s refrigeration unit. A conversion is a 20ft or 40ft container insulated and fitted with a bolt-on refrigeration unit specified for the power already on site, including single-phase service, quoted per design. Before deciding, ask your electrician what your current service can support.
Uses
Can a shipping container be used as a bunkie or guest cabin?
Yes. A bunkie is a room to sleep in, usually built in a 20ft, or in a 40ft high cube when it needs two beds or a washroom. Insulation and framing are chosen for the site and the season you’ll use it, and a washroom with fresh-water and waste tanks, a water heater and a pump can be added. Valleyview quotes every bunkie per design rather than from a price list. People sleep in it, so ask your local government how it will be classified before you order.
