Sea Cans for Fairmont and Columbia Lake

(778) 694-4050

Serving Fairmont Hot Springs and the Columbia Lake Area

Fairmont Hot Springs is a resort community on Highway 93/95 at the north end of Columbia Lake, known for its mineral hot pools and golf courses, with tourism at the centre of the local economy. Golf and grounds crews, property managers, builders working on vacation homes and owners of seasonal places between Canal Flats and Invermere buy containers for mowers, carts, patio sets and the gear that comes out each summer.

For resort kitchens, bars and caterers, a refrigerated container adds cold storage for food and drinks. Dry 20ft and 40ft units come standard or high-cube, and double-door or side-door models make carts easier to move. Every container we send has been inspected wind and watertight, and one all-in figure covers it and delivery from Kamloops. On landscaped lots, tell us where the container should sit.

FAQ

Fairmont Hot Springs shipping container FAQ

Straight answers on buying, delivering and setting up a container in Fairmont Hot Springs and across the East Kootenay & Columbia Valley.

Buying in Fairmont Hot Springs

Do you deliver shipping containers to Fairmont Hot Springs, BC?

Yes. Valleyview delivers new and used containers to homes, businesses and job sites in Fairmont Hot Springs and across the East Kootenay and Columbia Valley, most of them set down by a tilt-deck truck that slides the container onto your prepared site. Distance changes the delivery quote rather than whether Fairmont Hot Springs is served; what decides whether a particular site works is the route in and the access at the drop spot.

How much does it cost to deliver a container to Fairmont Hot Springs?

It’s quoted for your site by distance and access; Valleyview doesn’t publish a flat delivery rate or a free-delivery zone. The price depends on the distance from where the container ships (the Kamloops yard or a partner depot) to your address in Fairmont Hot Springs, the roads on the way in, and how easily the truck can line up and back in. Delivery isn’t included in listed container prices, but the delivery quote itself is free.

How soon can I get a container delivered to Fairmont Hot Springs?

It’s set when you order, not promised ahead. Timing depends on whether the unit you choose is already in Valleyview’s yard or has to be sourced, plus the distance to Fairmont Hot Springs, access at your site, and the roads and weather. Tell Valleyview about any deadline when you ask for a quote, and the delivery window is confirmed with your order.

Is there a Valleyview container yard in Fairmont Hot Springs?

No. Valleyview’s only yard is in Kamloops, at D3-1764 Kelly Douglas Rd, and Valleyview doesn’t operate a depot in Fairmont Hot Springs; your container comes from that yard or from a partner depot and is quoted delivered to your address. You don’t need to visit to buy: request a quote by phone, email or the website’s quote form, confirm the order when you accept the quote, and inspect the container when it arrives.

Which containers can I get delivered to Fairmont Hot Springs?

Any unit in Valleyview’s catalogue: the new 10ft; new and used 20ft containers, plus new 20ft double-door and side-door units and a 20ft refrigerated container; and 40ft containers, new as high cubes (one with side doors) or used in standard or high cube height. The live inventory page shows units already in Valleyview’s yard, and other units can be sourced through partner depots on request and quoted delivered to Fairmont Hot Springs. Availability, especially for the 10ft, is confirmed with your quote.

Can I see a container before it’s delivered to Fairmont Hot Springs?

Yes, in a few ways. Each listing on the live inventory page is a unit physically in the Kamloops yard, with a photo when available, its recorded condition and its unit number when legible. For a unit sourced from a partner depot, ask what photos and condition details come with your quote. If you’re passing through Kamloops, call ahead to arrange a look in person, and inspect the container again when it arrives.

See the yard inventory
Do shipping containers cost more in Fairmont Hot Springs?

They can, for two reasons. Part of a container’s own price depends on where the unit is sourced, which is one reason listed prices are ranges, and delivery to Fairmont Hot Springs is quoted separately for your site. Condition and, for new units, colour move the figure too. Your quote confirms the exact numbers, in Canadian dollars plus tax.

What does my site need for container delivery in Fairmont Hot Springs?

Firm, level ground and room for the tilt-deck truck. The spot should be dry and load-bearing, such as compacted gravel, asphalt or concrete, with blocks or railway ties under the corners recommended. For a 20ft, the truck needs 72 feet of straight, clear length including the container’s final spot, 10 to 12 feet of width and 16 feet overhead; a 40ft needs more. Look up along the route in, too: hydro lines, branches and carport roofs all count against that overhead space.

Do you deliver to acreages and off-grid properties near Fairmont Hot Springs?

Yes, and they’re quoted like any other delivery, by distance and by what the route and site need. Before booking, the route is planned the way it actually drives, including the approach, the turnaround and the set-down. Send GPS coordinates or a map pin for a site without a street address, describe gates, forks and creek crossings, and add photos of the access road and drop spot.

What size container is right for a property in Fairmont Hot Springs?

Choose a 20ft if space or delivery access is tight, and a 40ft if you need volume. A 20ft gives about 1,170 cubic feet on a footprint roughly the size of a single-car garage; a 40ft gives about 2,390, or about 2,690 as a high cube, but needs more room for the truck. Check the setbacks that apply to your lot before you choose, and mark the footprint with room for the doors to swing.

Do snow and frozen ground affect container delivery in Fairmont Hot Springs?

They can, in both directions. In the East Kootenay and Columbia Valley, snow, ice and road conditions can move a date, and Valleyview’s terms exclude liability for weather delays. Frozen ground can make some sites easier to reach, and remote sites are planned around seasonal access windows. Clear snow from the route and drop spot, and choose a spot that stays firm after the thaw.

What should I do to keep a container in good shape in Fairmont Hot Springs?

Plan for temperature swings and winter cold. Keep snow and wet leaves off the roof, keep the vents clear and use desiccants so condensation doesn’t drip on your things. Avoid heating it on and off, which is harder on a container than no heat at all. Before winter, put graphite or a dry silicone lubricant in the lock, and after the spring thaw check that the container is still level.

Who do I ask about shipping container rules in Fairmont Hot Springs?

The local government or other authority responsible for land use at your address, usually through its planning or building department; on First Nation reserve land, that’s the Nation’s own lands, housing or public works process. If the parcel is in the ALR, say so on the first call, since that changes which office you deal with. Valleyview isn’t the permit office and can’t confirm what applies to your lot, so give them your address and what the container is for, and ask before it’s delivered.

Read the permits guide
Can you build a container office or workshop for a site in Fairmont Hot Springs?

Yes. Custom builds are done in Valleyview’s own yard in Kamloops, where openings are cut and framing, insulation, electrical rough-in and any paint are added, then the finished container is delivered to Fairmont Hot Springs, usually by tilt-deck. You approve one itemized quote covering the container, every modification and delivery before any steel gets cut. You can start from a sketch, photos or a design made in the Container Studio.

Custom container builds
Can I rent a shipping container in Fairmont Hot Springs?

No. Valleyview doesn’t rent containers anywhere in BC. If you’d rather not pay the full price up front, lease-to-own spreads it into monthly payments on a 20ft or 40ft container, with the payment, term and delivery to Fairmont Hot Springs quoted together. Every payment builds toward ownership, you can pay out the balance early, and at the end of the term the container is yours rather than going back.

How lease-to-own works
Where else in the East Kootenay and Columbia Valley do you deliver besides Fairmont Hot Springs?

All of the East Kootenay and Columbia Valley, including Cranbrook, Kimberley, Fernie, Sparwood and Elkford. Each delivery is quoted for its own address by distance and site access. If your community isn’t listed on the site, call (778) 694-4050: deliveries also go to off-grid sites, ranches, First Nations communities and end-of-road locations across BC.

How do I get a quote for container delivery to Fairmont Hot Springs?

Call (778) 694-4050, email valleyviewcontainers@gmail.com, or use the quote form on the website. Say which size and condition you want, how many, and where it’s going; a postal code is enough to start, and the full address or directions are needed before you order. Photos of the access help. The quote is free, doesn’t commit you to buy, and gives one all-in price for the container and delivery.

Sizes & specs

How much headroom is left after insulating a shipping container?

In a standard-height container, expect a finished ceiling somewhere under 7ft 6in. A standard box starts at about 7ft 10in high and 7ft 8in wide inside; insulation, strapping and a ceiling can take six inches or more of headroom, and two inches of foam on each side wall brings the width close to 7ft 4in. A high cube starts at about 8ft 10in, which is why Valleyview steers insulated, occupied spaces toward one.

Insulating a container

New & used containers

What’s the difference between a new and a used shipping container?

A new one-trip container has made a single loaded voyage from the factory, so it arrives with straight walls, intact factory paint, tight door seals and an unstained floor. A used container has been in shipping service and shows it, with surface rust, dents and faded paint. Valleyview’s catalogue lists its used units as cargo-worthy, and containers are inspected before sale. New costs more; used suits storage where cosmetic wear doesn’t matter.

Prices

How much does a shipping container cost in BC?

Listed prices for Valleyview’s non-refrigerated containers run from $2,500 to $10,000 in Canadian dollars, plus tax and delivery, depending on size, condition and door layout. A used 20ft is listed at $2,500–$3,000, a new one-trip 20ft at $3,700–$4,200 and a used 40ft at $3,300–$3,600. The highest-priced non-refrigerated unit is the new 40ft high cube side-door container, listed at $9,000–$10,000. The 20ft refrigerated container is listed separately at $27,000–$30,000. Your quote adds delivery to your site, so you see the all-in price before you commit.

Buying & paying

Can I get one quote for several containers?

Yes. On the homepage price list you can select more than one container and send them as a single quote request, or list each size, condition and quantity in your message or on the phone. If the units are going to different addresses, give each one, since delivery is quoted by distance and site access. Larger multi-unit orders are handled as fleet orders, with volume pricing and no fixed minimum.

Fleet and bulk orders

Delivery

Does a high cube container need more clearance to deliver?

Overhead, yes. A high cube stands 9 ft 6 in tall against 8 ft 6 in for a standard container, so on a tilt-deck it rides about a foot higher. That loaded height has to clear the tree limbs over your driveway, the hydro service drop to the house, and any gate or carport. The footprint is the same as a standard container of the same length.

High cube vs standard
Do you deliver to Vancouver Island, the Sunshine Coast and the Gulf Islands?

Yes. Deliveries to Vancouver Island, the Sunshine Coast and the Gulf Islands are ferry-served, and the ferry is part of the delivery quote, so you get one all-in price for the container and its delivery before you commit. The site still needs a straight, clear approach for the truck, enough overhead space and firm, level ground where the container will sit.

Preparing your site

What foundation does a container office, suite or home need?

It depends on the use, the site and your local government. An office or workshop can sit on a slab, gravel pad or blocking without a poured foundation, but one people work in may be reviewed like a small building, with foundation and anchoring details on stamped drawings. A home or garden suite does not sit on blocks: the engineer chooses piers, screw piles, a grade beam or a slab from the soil, frost depth and loads. Ask your municipality or regional district before the container ships.

Container home permit guide

Owning a container

Can I repaint my container a different colour?

Yes. Clean the surface and sand it lightly, then use an exterior metal paint made for steel; the preparation is the step that matters. Treat any rust spots first by wire-brushing off the loose rust, cleaning the area and applying a rust-inhibiting metal paint. If you have not bought yet, a repaint is easier and cheaper in a yard before delivery than on your site, and colour and any paint cost are confirmed in your quote.

Permits & bylaws

What changes can turn a storage container into a structure that needs a building review?

Stacking containers, adding a roof or lean-to, and cutting large openings can each move a container from storage toward being reviewed as a structure. Cutting removes structural steel, so openings need proper reframing. A container treated as a structure can bring footings, anchoring designed for wind and seismic loads, and a snow load review for an added roof or stacked units. If you plan any of these, ask your local government what review applies before the work starts.

Custom builds

What modifications can you make to a shipping container?

Valleyview’s published modification menu covers a 36-inch steel personnel door with a commercial lockset, sliding windows with screens and security bars, steel or wood stud framing, four insulation types plus undercarriage foam, a basic electrical package and an HVAC pre-wire. Roll-up doors, vents, shelving, partitions, interior finishes, plumbing rough-in and paint are quoted per design. Every build is quoted line by line before any steel gets cut.

Business & lease-to-own

What do I need to send to get a branded container quoted?

Send your logo, the wording you want on the container, your brand colour, and the container size and delivery location. A vector logo file (AI, EPS, SVG or vector PDF) scales cleanly to container size; a JPG or PNG is accepted and assessed before anything is quoted. Say whether you want a few decals or full-side graphics, since the design drives the price.

Refrigerated containers

Can I load warm product straight into a reefer?

Ideally not; pre-chill it first. A reefer is designed to maintain a set temperature, not to rapidly cool down warm cargo, so goods should be pre-chilled to about the temperature you want before they’re loaded. If product will arrive warm, tell Valleyview what it is, how much comes in at once and how often the doors will open, so the right setup can be recommended before you buy.

Uses

Can I use a shipping container for storage while I renovate or move?

Yes. A container on your own property holds furniture and boxes through a renovation or a move, and you load and unload on your own schedule. Valleyview sells containers rather than renting them, so afterward it stays yours to keep for storage, move or sell, and lease-to-own is the only monthly-payment option. If it’s only there for the project, ask your local government whether a temporary placement needs approval or has a time limit.
