Containers for Furry Creek on Howe Sound

(778) 694-4050

Serving Furry Creek and Porteau Cove

Furry Creek is an oceanfront community on the east side of Howe Sound, south of Britannia Beach, where its namesake creek flows into the sound. The creek is named for Oliver Furry, the trapper and prospector whose 1898 copper claims became the original Britannia mine group. Homeowners use a container to hold furniture through a renovation or a move, or fit one out as a workshop.

Options run from a 20ft unit that suits a driveway to a 40ft high-cube for a larger lot, with double-door and side-door models and custom workshop builds. Before it leaves our Kamloops yard, each container is inspected to make sure it is wind and watertight, and the price you are quoted already has delivery in it. It is worth checking local rules on placement with the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District first.

FAQ

Furry Creek shipping container FAQ

Straight answers on buying, delivering and setting up a container in Furry Creek and across the Sea-to-Sky.

Buying in Furry Creek

Can I get a shipping container delivered to Furry Creek?

Yes. Valleyview’s delivery area covers all of British Columbia, including Furry Creek, and takes in homes, acreages, businesses, job sites and remote properties. Distance is priced into the delivery quote rather than limiting where containers go, so the questions that matter are whether the truck has a clear way in and room to set the container down.

What does it cost to have a container delivered to Furry Creek?

Delivery to Furry Creek isn’t part of the listed container price; it’s quoted for the actual site, and Valleyview doesn’t publish a flat rate. The quote reflects the distance from where the container ships (the Kamloops yard or a partner depot) to your address in Furry Creek, the roads on the way in, and how easily the truck can line up and back in. A level pad and room for the tilt-deck help keep it down, and the delivery quote is free.

How soon can I get a container delivered to Furry Creek?

The delivery date is agreed when you order rather than promised in advance. It depends on where your container is coming from, the distance to Furry Creek, your site, and road and weather conditions. With your quote, Valleyview confirms access, quotes the delivery and gives you a delivery window, so mention any deadline you’re working to when you ask.

Is there a Valleyview container yard in Furry Creek?

No. Valleyview’s only yard is in Kamloops, at D3-1764 Kelly Douglas Rd, and Valleyview doesn’t operate a depot in Furry Creek; your container comes from that yard or from a partner depot and is quoted delivered to your address. You don’t need to visit to buy: request a quote by phone, email or the website’s quote form, confirm the order when you accept the quote, and inspect the container when it arrives.

Which containers can I get delivered to Furry Creek?

Any unit in Valleyview’s catalogue: the new 10ft; new and used 20ft containers, plus new 20ft double-door and side-door units and a 20ft refrigerated container; and 40ft containers, new as high cubes (one with side doors) or used in standard or high cube height. The live inventory page shows units already in Valleyview’s yard, and other units can be sourced through partner depots on request and quoted delivered to Furry Creek. Availability, especially for the 10ft, is confirmed with your quote.

How do I check a container’s condition before it’s delivered to Furry Creek?

Ask for the details before you order. Each listing on the live inventory page is a unit in the Kamloops yard, shown with a photo when available, its recorded condition and its unit number when legible, and you can ask about the floor or any other detail before you commit. For a container sourced from a partner depot, ask what photos and condition details come with your quote, and inspect it again when it arrives.

See the yard inventory
Is the listed price what I’ll pay for a container in Furry Creek?

The listed range is a guide to the container itself, and your quote confirms the exact figure. Where a container lands in its range depends on its condition, its colour if it’s new and where it’s sourced, which is why buyers in different towns can see different figures for the same container. Prices are in Canadian dollars plus tax, with delivery quoted separately.

How do I prepare my site for container delivery in Furry Creek?

A straight, clear approach for the truck and a firm, level spot for the container. For a 20ft, allow 72 feet of total clear length in a straight line, including where the container will sit, plus at least 10 to 12 feet of width and 16 feet of overhead clearance; a 40ft needs more, so ask. Compacted gravel, asphalt or concrete works, ideally with blocks under the corners. Before you book, walk the route in and measure the narrowest gate or gap.

Do you deliver to acreages and off-grid properties near Furry Creek?

Yes. The service area takes in rural, remote and off-grid sites around Furry Creek. Valleyview’s trucks run gravel roads, forest service roads and seasonal access, and each route is planned before the truck leaves: approach, turnaround and set-down, with a backup plan where a bridge weight rating is in question. Describe gates, creek crossings and the last stretch in, and send GPS coordinates or a map pin if the site has no street address.

What size container is right for a property in Furry Creek?

A 20ft suits household, tool and job-site storage, and a 40ft suits larger loads if the site has room for the truck. A 20ft holds about 1,170 cubic feet on a footprint roughly the size of a single-car garage, while a 40ft holds about 2,390 cubic feet, or about 2,690 as a high cube. A 10ft has half a 20ft’s footprint for tight lots, though supply is limited.

Does winter weather affect container delivery in Furry Creek?

It can, through the roads and through the ground. In the Sea-to-Sky corridor, snow, ice or heavy rain can affect the roads and soften the ground, and weather can move a date; Valleyview’s terms exclude liability for weather delays. Remote sites are planned around seasonal access windows. Clear snow from the route and drop spot, and call before delivery day if the ground is soft.

What should I do to keep a container in good shape in Furry Creek?

Plan for both wet weather and cold. Keep the vents clear and use desiccants to control condensation, keep snow and wet leaves off the roof, and set the container on blocks on a well-drained pad so the steel stays out of standing water. Avoid heating it on and off, put graphite or a dry silicone lubricant in the lock before winter, and check the container is still level after the thaw.

Do I need a permit for a shipping container in Furry Creek?

It depends on your property and how you’ll use the container, so ask the local government or other authority responsible for land use at your address before ordering; on First Nation reserve land, that’s the Nation’s own lands, housing or public works process. The answer can change if you modify the container or live or work in it. Ask about the zone, setbacks, lot coverage, any permit or siting plan, and whether ALR, a floodplain or a covenant applies, then get the answer in writing.

Read the permits guide
Can you build a container office or workshop for a site in Furry Creek?

Yes. Custom builds are done in Valleyview’s own yard in Kamloops, where openings are cut and framing, insulation, electrical rough-in and any paint are added, then the finished container is delivered to Furry Creek, usually by tilt-deck. You approve one itemized quote covering the container, every modification and delivery before any steel gets cut. You can start from a sketch, photos or a design made in the Container Studio.

Custom container builds
Is lease-to-own available for containers delivered to Furry Creek?

Yes. Lease-to-own is offered on 20ft and 40ft containers delivered to Furry Creek, with the monthly payment, the term and delivery itemized in one up-front quote. The monthly cost depends on the container’s size, condition and your delivery location. Every payment builds toward ownership, and you can ask for a payout figure at any time. Valleyview doesn’t rent containers; lease-to-own is the monthly option.

How lease-to-own works
Do you deliver to other towns in the Sea-to-Sky corridor besides Furry Creek?

Yes. Deliveries in the Sea-to-Sky corridor also go to Squamish, Whistler, Pemberton, Britannia Beach and Pemberton Meadows, along with the rest of the region. Every delivery is quoted for its own address by distance and site access. Don’t see your community on the site? Call (778) 694-4050; Valleyview delivers to off-grid sites, ranches, First Nations communities and end-of-road locations across BC.

How do I get a quote for container delivery to Furry Creek?

Call (778) 694-4050, email valleyviewcontainers@gmail.com, or use the quote form on the website. Say which size and condition you want, how many, and where it’s going; a postal code is enough to start, and the full address or directions are needed before you order. Photos of the access help. The quote is free, doesn’t commit you to buy, and gives one all-in price for the container and delivery.

Sizes & specs

What size container do I need for household storage?

As a rough guide, a 10ft (about 560 cubic feet) holds the contents of a small one-bedroom apartment, a 20ft (about 1,170 cubic feet) a one- to two-bedroom apartment, and a 40ft standard (about 2,390 cubic feet) roughly a three- to four-bedroom house. List what you are storing, measure the largest pieces, leave room to walk in and reach things, and if you are between two sizes, choose the larger one.

New & used containers

What does “wind and watertight” mean?

It means the shell keeps weather out: no daylight through the walls or roof, and no leaks at the roof, seams or door seals. Valleyview inspects its containers for wind and watertight condition before sale. It does not mean the inside stays dry in every season, because condensation can form on the steel when temperatures swing, even in a container with no leaks. Vents, desiccants or insulation help with that.

Prices

What’s the lowest-priced shipping container you sell?

A used 20ft container has the lowest starting price in Valleyview’s catalogue, listed at $2,500–$3,000 plus tax and delivery. It has been in shipping service, so expect surface rust and dents, but it’s inspected and wind and watertight before it’s sold. Listed prices can change, so your quote confirms the final figure along with delivery to your site.

Buying & paying

What does a container quote from Valleyview include?

A quote prices the container and delivery to your address together, so you see the all-in price for both before you commit, with applicable GST and PST added. The delivery portion depends on distance and site access, which is why it’s quoted for your specific site rather than listed. If you add doors, windows, insulation or other modifications, each one is itemized line by line on the same quote, so you can see what every part of the job costs.

Delivery

Can you deliver a container to a construction or job site?

Yes. A job site needs the same things as any delivery: firm, level ground where the container will sit and a straight, clear approach for the tilt-deck truck, with room overhead. Keep that path free of parked machines, material piles and people on the day, and name a site contact who can meet the driver, confirm placement and sign the delivery receipt. Site requirements are confirmed when you get your quote.

Is a 40ft container harder to deliver than a 20ft?

It needs more room. Valleyview’s published delivery clearances are for a 20ft container, and a 40ft needs more, so ask for the figures for your site when you book. A 20ft is easier and cheaper to move, which matters on tight lots and narrow driveways. Both need a straight, clear path for the truck, open overhead space and firm, level ground where the container lands.

Compare 20ft and 40ft

Preparing your site

Can a container go right beside my house, shop or fence?

It can, if the truck can reach the spot and local rules allow it. The truck backs in on a straight line and the container lands at the end of that line, so the gap has to fit the truck, which needs at least 10 to 12 feet of width, not just the container. Leave room for the doors to open, and ask your municipality or regional district what setbacks apply first. Backing it against a fence or building also removes approach angles for a thief.

Owning a container

How do I protect the plywood floor inside my container?

Keep water off it. Container floors fail when water gets in and stays, so keep the container level on a well-drained pad up on blocks, keep the door gaskets sealing, and use vents or desiccant. For a cleaner floor, sweep, degrease, let it dry and apply two coats of floor enamel, garage-floor paint or epoxy while the container is empty. Valleyview also does floor sealing, overlays and deck replacement as modifications in its yard before delivery, so decide on the floor before you buy.

Permits & bylaws

Is a temporary container treated differently from a permanent one?

It can be, so tell your local government which you mean. A container brought in for a season or a single project may be handled differently from one that stays, and some placements come with a time limit. Ask whether a time limit applies, what happens when it runs out, and what changes if you later decide to keep the container on the property.

Custom builds

How do I get a quote for a design I made in the Container Studio?

Go to the review step and press Send design. Once it goes through, the studio confirms it was sent and gives you a saved-design link that reopens the exact build, and the team reviews it and follows up with an itemized quote. You can also download a build summary for your own records. No order is placed until you approve a quote, and if sending fails you can try again or call (778) 694-4050.

Business & lease-to-own

Can you paint a container in our company colours and add our logo?

Yes. Valleyview paints containers in factory RAL colours, matching your brand colour to the closest RAL shade and confirming it with you before painting, then applies cut vinyl logos, lettering and contact details, or full-side graphics, in exterior-rated materials. The work is done in Valleyview’s yard before delivery and quoted per design, with the container, paint, decals and delivery on one itemized price.

Refrigerated containers

What is a reefer container?

A reefer is a refrigerated shipping container: an insulated steel box with its own refrigeration unit on one end. The unit draws air from inside, cools or heats it to the set temperature and circulates it through a T-shaped floor so the temperature stays even from bottom to top. The walls are filled with high-density polyurethane foam. Valleyview sells a 20ft reefer for cold or frozen storage.

Uses

What does it take to turn a shipping container into a home or garden suite?

A dwelling needs much more than a storage container: engineered drawings, a building permit issued in your name, structural steel where walls are opened, insulation to the BC Energy Step Code target that applies to your site, and plumbing and electrical rough-in for licensed trades to connect. Valleyview builds garden suites and homes turnkey from new one-trip 40ft high cubes and quotes each one per design, with no listed price. Start by asking your municipality or regional district what your zoning allows.
